Ready to see one of the most gorgeous container homes ever designed? This is the primary residence of John Winder, who owns and operates Winder Tinyhouse Factory in New Zealand. What started as a hobby turned into his full-time job, and finally he used his skills to build his best container home yet, which he has the privilege of living in.

Altogether, the house is about 377 square feet. He used creative container “bump outs” to provide extra elbow room inside the home, adding bump outs to the bedroom and living room area. To expand his living area — and take advantage of the mountain views — he added a large covered patio.

I’ve never seen such a colorful container home! This former Airbnb in Florida is largely yellow, with blue and green frames painted around the doors and windows. It really makes the outside feel tropical.

You walk through the French doors and the interior is much more modern. There’s an open-concept sleek, spacious kitchen/living area followed by the bathroom, and then finally a private bedroom. The doors on each end open up, one set with nature views. Tell us what you think!

This is the Cozy Container Cabin where you can take an Airbnb vacation in Oakland, CA.

Although the container is cool in its own right, it’s even better because it was created by Boxouse, a company designing “portable, affordable, beautiful smart homes” in California:

Inspired by portable, modular shipping containers and fed up with paying rising rents in San Francisco for non ideal housing we set out to redefine the landscape in which we lived and rethink housing for modern aspirations.

Boxouse started on a vacant lot in 2013 and quickly grew into a community of friends who all shared a common goal of experimenting with sustainability and building. We still run all our production out of beautiful Oakland California.

Want to get a taste for their work? Book your stay! More details below the pictures.
