I’ve always wanted to stay in a tiny house, cabin, or a cottage instead of a motel or hotel while traveling.
And if you’ve ever considered living in a smaller space this is such a great way to experience it.

This is a little story about a tall tiny house with a covered porch and a tall loft. Since it’s not built on a trailer with wheels, you’re allowed to build taller since you never have to worry about driving under a bridge.
This is nice because you can actually stand up when you’re up in the sleeping loft so you don’t feel so cramped as many do in lofts where the tiny homes are built on wheels and have road restrictions. So what do you think? Are you going to build your tiny like this or on wheels?

I’m not sure about you but I’ve always had this attraction to A-frame houses. I’m not sure if that’s because my name starts with an A (Alex) but I think it’s also because they’re so rare to see and unique in comparison to most other homes.
As a kid, I always was liked seeing an old school Dairy Queen or a church that was built in an A-frame design. But even more, a random A-frame house in a neighborhood. So today I thought I’d share my top 6 A-frame tiny houses. As I was searching through the web to discover these I got to thinking, hey, why not an 8 by 20 A-frame tiny house on a trailer?
Then I immediately thought of the Fortune Cookie tiny house from Zyl Vardos which is close to an A-frame design. Their design makes a lot of sense too because the rounded shape gives you the most amount of space inside. I guess it’s just a lot harder to design/build it that way, but it would be worth it, right?

This is the story of an INCREDIBLE 500-square-foot little house on a CLIFFTOP with WATER VIEWS in Chile! And it gets even better…
Because according to The Tiny Life, it was built in only 3 months and for only $15,000 USD. The home is designed just the way I would want my own home, with a covered patio separating two portions of the house.
In this case, one end of the house is the bed and bath, while the other side is the living space and kitchen. If you work from home and have a family, this kind of design would be absolutely PERFECT, don’t you think?

This 500-square-foot off-grid shipping container home might be what you’ve always dreamed of. It has built-in deck space, it’s own pool, and can easily be hooked up to utilities if you wanted to.
The interior is made out of OSB wood boards and it’s built with moisture-resistant insulation. There’s a murphy bed installed inside to double up on space when needed and is already hooked up with solar panels. There are 4 panels at 240 watts each hooked up to a 3600-watt 24-volt inverter. That means it produces anywhere between 3700 to 4400 watts of power per day as long as you have access to 5-6 hours of sunshine daily.

This is the story of the Quietude Prefab Cabin. It’s the story of Denise Franklin and her healing place. After going through a major illness and doctors telling her she only had six months left to live… It’s been more than twenty years, she had left her house, and husband, and was now in search of her sacred space.
With a budget of only $28,000, she thought it might sound impossible, but she knew that anything is possible if you believe in it enough, so she didn’t give up and eventually made it happen thanks to the help of the wonderful and amazing Henry Yorke Mann (architect). Denise ended up with her dream tiny home… 280-square-feet of peaceful bliss. Please enjoy…?

Guest Post by Reader who Lives in Mortgage-free Small Octagon House
We built this small octagon house in 1979 with mostly found/recycled materials that we pulled through the woods on a little path on a reinforced garden cart so we did it with no mortgage. Later on, we got a little crazy with the add-ons as you’ll see. And the sauna is near a river. While there are only 2 acres, it’s in the middle of the Green Mountain National Forest. I raised 4 children with no running water here. I chose voluntary simplicity (mostly voluntary). Oh, and one more, I built a tent platform then garden shed recently and my daughter made another studio with it.

This article will show you how one couple built their very own mortgage-free small house for $5,900 and how you might be able to do the same using reclaimed materials that are inexpensive and many times completely free. All it takes is your dedication and labor. I’m handing it over to Deputy Gene now. Thank you for reading. – Alex
My wife and I decided to build a small house as cheaply as we could as a weekend getaway. We had a relative who worked at a lumber supply house and would call us whenever they had seconds on sale. We purchased anything they had figuring we would need it eventually. We worked every weekend I had off and it took us a little over a year to finish. Here it is about four weekends into the project.
