Here’s a tiny house I hadn’t seen before that I get to show you thanks to SpacesTV and my friend Ali.
And it’s got a one of a kind way of generating free heat which I’ll show you below.
It was designed and built by Yestermorrow Design Build School students.
Yestermorrow Tiny House
It was built in Vermont where Yestermorrow is located and the home is now in Massachusetts.
Don’t miss the video tour below, too (along with the rest of the pictures):

Elaine over at Tiny House Community has done a great job of organizing the 2013 Tiny House Fair at Yestermorrow Design Build School in Vermont.
She just announced scholarships for the fair that she needs help funding. I’ll just let her do the talking. But I can assure you that the money she raises here will be put to good use this summer.
Scholarships for the Tiny House Fair at Yestermorrow
Before I hand it over to Elaine I want you to know that contributing to the scholarship is completely optional. Please only do so if you really want to. If not no worries! Feel free to check out our other tiny home photo/video posts in the Tiny Houses category instead.
How to Get a Scholarship
Elaine’s going to explain that in a moment below, but basically you submit an essay.

Every so often I enjoy doing some Q&A on tiny houses and simple living.
And what usually prompts me to do it is an email or question in the comments from other readers.
So here’s a question I got yesterday along with my thoughts. I’d love to read through your thoughts and suggestions too.
Family Desperate to Downsize/Simplify
Below is a copy of the email I received. Let’s let the sender remain anonymous.
Subject: needing to downsize and simplify with a quickness
Message: Hey Alex. I am such a fan. I have been following you on you
tube for a few months now. The Tiny house movement is everything i am
into. Here is my delima… My husband and I just moved up here to
Alaska just over a year ago. Getting a bank to back us for land and a
build, not easy. We are a family of 4. We both work and feel like
hampsters on a neverending wheel. We work to pay rent and so the cycle
continues every month. How do we get out from under it and on our way to how it ought to be?
Pretty tough question, right?
If you want, read my response/thoughts below then add your own in the comments at the bottom.
I have a feeling there are many of us who feel like this too and by us sharing our own experiences, thoughts and tips, we can really make a world of difference for others who are trying to do the same.

How do you handle water in a tiny house or in the city in a small apartment?
Whether you are off-the-grid or using the city water system you might want to consider a water filter.
This way you don’t have to buy water. If you have a well or other access to water you can use a simple gravity fed filter to ensure your water is pure and 100% safe to drink.
Why Gravity Water Filters
- No need to buy water
- Cleans water inexpensively
- Filters last a long time
- You can clean these filters
- Works with no power usage
- Can take with you anywhere
- Works well in emergency situations

One of our awesome Tiny House Newsletter readers sent these Tiny Cabin photos to me.
It’s of a tiny house he found in the Catskills in Upstate New York.
14’x16′ Tiny Cabin in Upstate New York
The cabin has an upstairs sleeping loft that you can actually stand up in.
And it’s hooked up with a wood stove and propane. It was previously lived in but is now just used for storage.

I’ve always wanted to draw out my own tiny house plans.
One of them has always been one for a person like me who works from home.
Whether you’re an author, writer, blogger, artist, cartoonist, musician, freelancer, or accountant…
Wouldn’t a backyard tiny house to work in be awesome? I think so.
The WorkHaus Tiny House
So I decided to create the WorkHaus Tiny House Design. It’s a simple 7’x11′ structure used to work in.
It can be built on a regular foundation as a shed in a backyard or it’s small enough to be built on a 10 ft. single axle utility trailer much like the XS House from Tumbleweed.

I encourage you to check out the rest of this tiny blogger/author/artist/worker house below:

Ever wonder about having a tiny house in the winter?
Our friends Chris and Malissa at Tiny Tack House just posted the video you’re about to see.
It’s of their tiny home on wheels while it’s snowing.
Video: Tiny Home in the Snow
Just because a little house is on a trailer doesn’t mean it can’t handle rough weather. Look at the solar panels filled with snow below. 🙂

The Oregon Cottage Company built this beautiful tiny house on wheels for a client with great ideas.
The based it on their Siskiyou design but they changed the following to meet the client’s needs better:
- removed the porch,
- added a utility room,
- created a front deck,
- and made the sleeping loft bigger.
I’d like to call this a great tiny house for full-time living!
