If you love tiny houses but seriously question whether you think you’d be able to live in one or not long term renting one is a great way to figure that out.
And although expensive, it costs much less money and time than building one and finding out the hard way that it isn’t right for you.
So for those of you sort of on the fence about it, I highly recommend booking your next vacation in a tiny house and getting some real life experience with one first hand.
Trust me because it might end up saving you months of labor and thousands of dollars. Because what if a small house is better for you than a tiny one? Again, best way to find out, is stay in one for a while and experience it.
Update: Unfortunately, this tiny home is no longer at this location and therefore not available for rent anymore. But you can still enjoy a virtual tour below:
So this is Tumbleweed’s latest tiny house design called the Linden. Plans for it should be available soon but they’re not out yet. I’ll let you know when that happens. Get email updates from me here if you want to. Let me give you the complete tour of the Linden below:

Now here’s a tiny house that instantly makes you feel like you’re looking at a UFO.
Only it’s not a UFO. It’s a modern tiny house called Futuro.
This is a totally out of this world home designed by architect Matti Suuronen in 1968.
The nature of it’s design reflects the mentality of the sixties when people began to believe that technology would solve all problems in society.
It was accommodated to fit up to 8 people and constructed out of reinforced plastic.
I encourage you to learn more and get the rest of the tour below:

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the film TINY: the Movie, it was produced by Christopher Smith and Merete Mueller.
They are owners of a beautiful 127 square feet home located in Colorado that costs almost nothing to power.
The couple always wanted to own their own property in the mountains but didn’t realize they could really pursue that dream until they stumbled upon the tiny house movement.
This was going to be their first construction project they had ever attempted so it was challenging but their desire to simplify and own their own house overcame all of the obstacles.
I encourage you to come inside to see the full tour below:

I have been part of the tiny house community since I first saw Jay Shafer on Oprah back in 2008.
We used that inspiration to begin building our tiny house in 2009. As you might imagine, since that time I have seen a lot of other tiny house blogs and become part of the small but growing community of tiny house builders.
There are so many great designs and ideas out there now and many tiny house builders are creating some amazing homes that are smaller than most traditional bedrooms. I thought I might share my favorite tiny houses – in no particular order.

I’m excited to show you my friend Joe’s latest tiny house build. He’s the man behind Tennessee Tiny Homes who I got to have beers with while at Deek and Steven’s Relaxshacks.com workshop in North Carolina earlier this year. The house has already been delivered to a customer near the Arkansas/Louisiana border.
I think you’ll enjoy the interior because for some reason most people don’t end up installing murphy beds in tiny houses. And I just don’t get that. But Joe finally did just that and I’d love to read your thoughts about it in the comments. I think it’s a great way to avoid the need for a sleeping loft and you can instead use the available loft space for storage. You’ve got to love the built in porch, too. I’m sure it disassembles relatively easy for when you need to tow the house. But for me something like this is a must.

So happy to get to show you this beautiful little Kanga cabin that was built near Blanco, TX. It has an extended open front porch, side screen porch, full bath, kitchen, sleeping loft, and an awesome living area.
The cabin measures 16′ x 30′ and it has an 8′ screened in porch in the back. You’ll also notice that it has a fantastic front porch that’s perfect for a few rocking chairs. But first I wanted to show you the beautiful interior.

The layout is absolutely perfect in my opinion. To me, this is the epitome of simple living for a couple, young family or anyone wanting to retire simply but not too tiny. But what do you think?
Please enjoy the rest and let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

I love this type of tiny house because it has a bit of that modern touch that I enjoy so I just had to share it with you.
Well, it isn’t exactly a tiny house, it’s actually a backyard study and office.
The owners, Celestino Piralla and Cornelia Stumpf, wanted more space in their home where they can work, do art and study.
So instead of adding another room and risk changing the footprint of their house, they decided to utilize the extra space in their backyard to create a 320 square feet studying/working headquarters.

After running into this teardrop camper by Teddybear Teardrops I just couldn’t help to share it with you.
I’m a big fan of teardrops because they’re easy and cheap to build. And they’re also easy and cheap to tow.
So even if you’re not doing well financially, chances are you can pull one of these off and still get to adventure with your family or significant other or even just by yourself!
It’s a great way to get around and see new things without completely emptying your wallet. And if you’re a beginner builder and want to get your first project under your belt, this may be the best way to go besides building furniture.
Otherwise there are plenty of folks out there who would be willing to build one for you at a pretty affordable price.

This is the incredible story of a father and his son who set the audacious goal of building a tiny pioneer-style log cabin, in Alaska, in only 15 days.
Is it even possible to do that? Well, I suppose we will find out, but this old boy and his son sure think they can, and you know what, who’s stopping them? Enjoy below and who knows, you may learn a little something about logging.
