If you’re ever looking for a cozy vacation in the woods of Asheville, check out this tiny cottage.
On the outside, you’ll see a cream-colored board and batten house with a lovely front porch area. The home is nestled in the trees.
When you go inside the first floor, you’ll find the bright and airy main living space that includes a couch and sitting chair on one end and a lovely kitchen on the other with white bead-boarded cabinetry, a stove and a refrigerator. A small table with blue chairs sits between the two spaces. The large master bedroom has calming yellow walls and a beautiful queen bed (you’ll notice fresh linens sitting on the bed). Off in one nook is a modern-looking desk space. Enter the bathroom and you’ll be surrounded by chic grey tiles and a large tiled stand-up shower. Step out the backdoor and you’ll be on a brick patio that includes a small table and chairs for romantic dinners looking out on the Asheville landscape.

Tiny homes come in all shapes and sizes, but sometimes the best way to describe one is “cute.” This is a tiny and adorable cottage in the Asheville Forest.
Outside, you’ll notice a small rectangular home with light green clapboards. Two windows flank the tan front door that hides beneath a dormer on the front porch area. Off to the side of the home is a fenced-in deck for outdoor eating and relaxing. The house sits among the trees as a cozy retreat from the world.
When you go inside, you’ll find the quaint kitchen with open-face cabinets, a small stove with an oven and a full-sized microwave, fridge, and dishwasher. A small dinette sits in the middle of the hardwood floors. The living space includes two comfortable chairs for relaxing and the bathroom is fully equipped with a tub/shower, toilet, and washer and dryer. The master bedroom has the same beautiful hardwood floors and a large bed.

This is a watch tower cabin in Terebonne, Oregon. Outside, you’ll notice a three story square structure with a fun cupola-style green metal roof. Around the third floor wraps a large deck where you can stand and take in the beautiful surrounding landscape. The third floor has bays of windows on all four sides, which allows for wonderful natural light in the main living area of the house. The “body” of the house is shingled with cedar shakes.
When you go inside, you’ll find the interior is all stained knotty pine. The upper level is 20 X 20 feet and includes two couches and robin’s egg blue cabinetry in the corner kitchen. A wood-burning stove heats the area from the center of the main room. Cook BBQ on the deck or go downstairs to the two bedrooms and 1.5 baths. You can go to the ground level and hop in a hot tub and enjoy views of the mountain range.

When you hear of downsizing, you likely picture people leave large houses for smaller ones. But this couple went all-out and downsized from a motorhome to a Ford van.
The video below shows the motorhome that they spent a Canadian winter living in that used solar panels and batteries for power and had no running water. They used the rock climbing gym shower and washed dishes with a small water tank inside the house. It was a standard motorhome with a dinette, kitchen, and sleeping area.
They converted their new van into a home by stripping it of its seats and building a bed with storage underneath and a small table for a little cook top. Doing so allowed them to spend a summer travelling and spending nothing on heat. Watch the whole video and see how they’re doing it!

There are many ways to travel the world, and this Australian couple is doing it in a sailboat.
Their ship is called “La Vagabonde” and is 43 feet long. On deck, they can steer and sunbathe, and down beneath deck, they have sitting area, a bedroom, and a kitchen. Two solar panels and a wind generator give them power, as well as the water maker on board so they can have fresh water while out at sea. Think that tiny homes aren’t for families? Check out this 232 square foot tiny house on wheels that is home to two adults, two babies and a Great Dane.
From the outside, you’ll notice a beautiful rustic wooden exterior with a sloped roof on a gooseneck trailer. At one end of the trailer, you’ll see corrugated metal siding which envelopes what used to be a patio and is now the bedroom for baby Hazel and her soon-to-be baby brother.
When you go inside, you’ll find a beautiful open-concept house with a small love-seat and chair in the main living room. The color scheme consists of white and bright hues. The king-sized bed sits on the elevated portion of the trailer with underneath storage and closet space. The long kitchen lies against the front wall and includes an oven and four-burner stove, a smaller refrigerator, a microwave and a dishwasher. The butcher block counter tops allow plenty of cooking space. Lastly, the bathroom includes a stunning tile shower with a rainwater shower head.

This is a window-filled modern tiny cabin on wheels by Tiny Heirloom.
Outside, you’ll notice muted orange clapboards against a bright blue door. An exposed deck comes off the front of the house with access via sliders.
When you go inside, you’ll feel warm and cozy because of the dark colors. The kitchen is just opposite of the sliders and includes steel blue cabinets and a unique under-cabinet window to allow natural light into the space. In the bathroom you’ll find a cool metal wash-basin tub. Unlike many tiny trailers, this one has sleeping for up to four, with floating bunks and loft bedroom with a queen bed.

This is a tiny and cozy off-grid home that is perfectly reminiscent of a Hobbit-like cave.
Outside, you’ll see a curved roof line over two double doors that open wide to make the inside and outside living space one. From the front of the house you have views of a lily-pad-filled pond that includes a wonderful footbridge. The owner says he’s spent 40 years creating the space.
In the center of the circular interior you’ll find a large round table with benches. The ceilings feature amazing stone work and a cozy bed is tucked in the curve of one wall. Exposed wooden beams square off areas of the house. In the kitchen area at the back of the house you can pull down a wooden cabinet door to expose a wine rack. A built-in kitchen chest stands against the wall and looks like a piece of history. You can cook over an elaborate wood-burning stove complete with cast iron dishware, or sit and study at a wooden desk near the front wall. Watch the entire video for a full tour of this tiny abode.
