Kimberly had a great idea for a way to provide access to e-learning from disadvantaged students: She took a 1995 school bus she bought in June and transformed it into the Mobile Academic Classroom (MAC).
The “mobile classroom” features six learning stations, a teacher’s station (for younger children), a mini library, encyclopedias, an assortment of learning tools, school supplies, noise cancelling headphones, educational CD’s, DVD’s., laptops, two flat screen televisions, and it’s all WI-FI accessible. The MAC will travel to school neighborhood sites in Ohio, each week, with scheduled hours of operation slated for Monday – Friday, between 9 a.m. and 6 pm.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the needs of the nation’s most economically disadvantaged children have exacerbated due to virtual learning limitations, technological divides with many poor households lacking computer and internet access. Additionally, with library shutdowns, vital resource materials which students need to supplement their learning capacity, has had a highly detrimental impact on poor and urban students,” Kimberly said.

Mandy had a remote job long before the pandemic, and she loved to travel. However, she didn’t love living out of a suitcase and leaving her dog, Opal, behind. So she decided camper life would give her the best of both worlds: A home base, and the chance to travel the United States.
So for the past three years, she’s gone up and down both coasts and across the southern US, and even into Canada where her pile of blankets came in handy. She says the best and worst part of camper life is the freedom: She can go wherever she wants, but she has to decide where to go!

For a $15,000 total investment, Isaac went from van short roof van to an awesome diesel short bus he’s been living in and out of for about a year and a half.
His bus features an epic roof-top deck, a back deck, and a very creative — if a bit primitive — shower/toilet set up! His $30 live-edge countertop is one of his favorite features in the bus and it’s easy to see why.

Meet Brooke: She has a doctorate in physical therapy, but ultimately found herself longing to spend more time with her kids. That’s when she got into crocheting hats. A hobby soon became a successful business, and now she and her family travel around the country spreading the word about her amazing bobble hats, running her business, homeschooling and exploring the US.
So basically she’s amazing! Her husband, Jeff, is the director of sales for her business, so her amazing hat-crafting is enough to support the family of 5 — and they are completely debt-free, which is even cooler.

Audrey and Paul bought their bus back in 2018 and spent 20 months making it into their amazing bus home. They spend half of what they used to in bills and utilities by living in their bus rather than a standard apartment and the best part? It’s all theirs, made exactly how they wanted it!
A former Marine, Paul is now a full-time student while Audrey works a number of mobile/remote jobs such as teaching yoga. They enjoyed a couple of months of traveling before settling down in an RV park near Paul’s school. The home has a cozy farmhouse chic vibe, and they built it out without any former experience in construction!

Ange was tired of the grind as a NYC architect, and decided to hit the road. She bought “Big Blue,” a 1986 Toyota Dolphin, in January of 2020, and hit the road in May. She faced a lot of ups and downs from water damage, but her resilience allowed her to create an awesome DIY space.
She admits it was a big adjustment going from full-time city life to suddenly being alone with her thoughts without wifi at times! But now she can spend a day alone in peace. Could you travel alone full-time?

Artists Cora and Jose didn’t just create an epic skoolie conversion for their own use, they made it with a mission in mind! Travel 30,000 miles across the Americas sharing art wherever they go! They’ve taught classes, painted murals, and shared their artistic abilities while on the road.
They even built their bus with extra guest beds in case an artist wants to travel with them for a month or so at a time and join in the art-sharing. They call the project, “Art We There Yet?”

We’ve been seeing more and more couples and families choose RV conversions for great temporary housing to allow them to travel and save money for a future home. This “temporary tiny” is a great way to learn to live with less and to help people reach their financial goals. Caroline and husband, Daniel, did an amazing job on their 5th wheel conversion!
They were able to buy their RV from the original owners, and then spend about 5 weeks of full-time renovations. While they were previously working seasonally and travelling, they’re now looking for more permanent work and Caroline is growing her photography business.
