Dylan had been looking at vans and tiny homes for a while, wanting to design something himself one day but thinking it’d probably never happen. He casually commented to Lita that #vanlife would be fun, and they started looking for a van the very next day!
Amazingly, this couple sped through their tour of the US, visiting all 48 states and all the national parks in just one year! Now they’ve slowed the pace down and are ready to savor some of the things they rushed past. Check out their amazing van build below!

James hasn’t had it easy growing up. His father and a number of his aunts and uncles died before the age of 45, reminding James that we don’t all have forever to live. Inspired by the Air Nomads from “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” James is determined to live a life not attached to material things, but bringing peace and harmony wherever he goes.
One way he does that is by sharing free tea with strangers wherever he goes. Much like Uncle Iroh (also from Avatar), he finds there’s something magical about tea and conversation. Plenty of tiny houses claim to be off-grid capable. This 308-square-foot THOW by Jobson Tiny Homes was engineered for it. Six 425-watt panels total 2,550 watts of solar, feeding a LiFePO4 battery bank of two 100-amp-hour (51-volt) batteries through a 3,500-watt OutBack inverter — enough to run genuine AC appliances rather than just lights and a laptop.
Water is the part most off-grid builds skip. Here, rain is collected from the gutters and run through a four-stage filtration process plus UV purification into 55 gallons of fresh storage, which means the house can generate its own supply instead of waiting on a fill-up. Insulation is high-efficiency spray foam, a Lunos HRV keeps conditioned air moving without dumping heat, and a 115V mini-split plus ceiling fan handle climate.
It sleeps six across a king primary loft, a queen loft, and a futon. The kitchen is unusually complete for a THOW: custom hardwood cabinets, a farmhouse sink, a 3-burner stove with a 21-inch gas oven, microwave, stainless range hood, and a 7.4 cu. ft. refrigerator/freezer. Walls are solid wood shiplap and the ceiling is an all-wood herringbone.

This is a stunning bus conversion made precisely to the needs of DJ and Rachel and their three wonderful dogs. They live in it part-time for vacations since they have a “regular” house and full-time jobs. While they might like to travel someday full-time, it’s simply not in the cards at this time.
They’ve been vacationing in it for two years after a very methodical build process. Instead of opting for the cheapest and quickest options, they took the time to create it exactly as they wanted and spent more than they had planned (which seems to be the way with most projects!). Here’s a tiny house on wheels that feels just like tinies “of old.” Appropriately named “The Classic,” this 20 ft. tiny home has the standard layout of many original tiny homes, but this one does upgrade with a storage staircase featuring a unique alternating step.
The loft bedroom is carpeted to make it extra comfortable, and there’s a nice bathroom next to the L-shaped kitchen. On the other end of the tiny house, there’s just enough room for a small couch. A flip-down bar sits in front of two large windows for a great eating spot. This couple went on a vacation on a narrowboat before 2020 upended the world, and fell in love with the idea of living on the water. Still, they wanted a little more space than the narrowboat offered, so they started searching for a wide-beam boat instead.
They ended up purchasing a show model, and the new boat is absolutely gorgeous! Sheena and Thom wanted to travel and see the places they kept seeing on TV and Instagram. A shuttle bus was the most affordable option for them, and including the cost of the conversion, they were able to create a home on wheels for just $15K.
They have just about everything you could want in a conversion — it even has a shower, although they prefer to use the ones at Planet Fitness simply. A fixed bed takes up the back of the bus, while a cool convertible table/dinette space has multiple “modes” for when guests are over. What do you like best?
