Meet “This Little Den” — a family of 7 (mom, dad, 4 boys and a baby girl) that’s living in an RV while renting land on a friend’s property in Florida. Just before finding out about baby #5, they decided not to re-up their apartment lease or look for a new one. Instead, they voluntarily moved into a tent! Now they’ve been tiny living for two years.
Soon they added Vinney the Van, and then they came across this awesome RV and decided to upgrade for a bit more space. By downsizing they’ve learned what they really need, and get way more time together as a family — which is what it’s all about, right?
The biggest trial of having 5 littles in an RV is laundry, but they’re managing via the laundromat and generous friends/family nearby. We got to interview mom, Chelsea, so be sure to read the Q&A at the end of the post. Follow the family on Instagram here.

This beautiful tiny house on wheels was built by Blaine of Cornerstone Tiny Homes in Oklahoma for he and his wife to live in. They enjoyed their tiny life, but now that they are adding to the family they are building a 765 square foot carriage house and selling their tiny home.
Blaine and his dad did residential remodel construction before setting out building tiny homes. They are now moving into SIP building with fiberglass sheathing that is extremely lightweight, durable, and efficient. His tiny house build allowed the couple to start their marriage with zero debt, which is quite the accomplishment!
They’re asking $79,000 for the house, which includes a loft bedroom and an additional Murphy bed that opens over the dinette for guests or downstairs sleeping. You can contact the company with questions/offers here.

Brandon, Sarah, and their two adorable dogs are living the #vanlife, travelling the East Coast in their 159 EXT Promaster Camper Van. The 2019 model has been decked out to meet all their needs — including a hidden toilet/bed step!
They ended up choosing a wet bar and larger refrigerator over a shower, somewhat on accident, but they don’t regret the choice. All four of them can sleep comfortably in the regular queen-sized bed, and I’m impressed with how “empty” their cabinets/drawers look for living in such a tiny space! They have really pared down to the necessities.

Ever dreamed of running your very own business? Thought it doesn’t mesh with your dream of going tiny and traveling? Meet Mike and Ciera! They run their very own Etsy shop, Made to Cut, from the front of their DIY tiny house on wheels. And they do it all while traveling the U.S.!
In order to avoid high rent and overhead fees, the couple built their very own tiny home outfitted with everything they need to create gorgeous laser-cut signs and other products, primarily from birch wood. They then ship these all over the country, and pay for their travels from their business income.
While they are honest about how tough it can be as entrepreneurs, they are happy with the two years they’ve spent on the road making their dreams a reality. Watch their tour/interview with Tiny Home Tours below!

Natascha and Stephen were empty-nesters who had spent a lot of time travelling between India and Australia. When their son was able to purchase an acreage that allowed for other dwellings, the couple jumped at the opportunity to erect their off-grid yurt.
They’re both teachers, and while the 8-meter-wide yurt might not be “tiny” to some, this downsize has allowed them to get closer to the land and live more sustainably. One look out their window and you see why you might choose this lifestyle!
I love that while Natascha has downsized significantly, she didn’t cut back to the bare minimum — for example, she loves spinning and weaving, and kept the tools of her trade that she needed! She shared more wisdom with us in the Q&A you can read after the photo tour of her yurt home. Enjoy!

High school sweethearts Alicia and Daniel decided it didn’t make sense to work full-time while in college to pay rent in two different places, so instead they pooled their money and purchased a used RV for $8,000 cash, and put another $4,000 into renovations (including an unforseen mold issue that ate up a lot of time and money).
The couple, now engaged, are living in an RV park while doing their college coursework and building a life together. They did a wonderful job with their renovation, including creating a special office workspace where they can both do schoolwork. There’s a daybed/couch in their living area, and an awesome coffee cabinet!

When his Marine life ended abruptly, Johnny and his wife, Shiang-ling, jumped into converting an amazing school bus into their home-on-wheels. It’s been more than two years now, and the family of six is still enjoying their mobile lifestyle.
As one of 11 kids himself, Johnny took great care to make sure each of his kids has special space for their personal belongings — from a desk with hidden storage, to their own bunks with little fans, movable lights, and under-bed clothing storage.

Janet got in touch to show us her lovely 320 square foot foundation home that was built as an ADU (accessory dwelling unit) on her son’s property in Danville, Kentucky.
Although this tiny home wasn’t Janet’s “Plan A” for a retirement home, it ended up being the best one, she says. Now she lives in her happy L-shaped home just steps from her son and teenage granddaughters. She cooks family meals a couple times a week and yet has her own private space.
Thankfully Danville recently allowed for ADUs, giving Janet this great option for retirement! See pictures of her home and read her story at the end of the post.
