I just love The Cape Cod. It has everything w/o lofts, even a washer unit. The raised living area with bed under is just great. 🙂

No loft and 2 cool added gables, nice touch ;~)

As a builder I’m critical, see a zillion projects a week. and I LOVE this proper layout. ALL of it! ;~) Aloha

is this one ten feet wide? and in need of a permit to move it? the MINIM house is, and that is what this looks like…it would be nice if you always posted dimensions so people didn’t fall in love with something that won’t work for travel.

Mary McGuirk, the dimensions aren’t available… Look at the links, they only state the Square Footage…

However, if you look over at the company that was hired to built it…

      http://www.gccapstone.com/the-tiny-lighthouse/

Their photo gallery of the build includes when it was moved and it clearly shows an oversize load sign was placed on it for the move…

So, for 200 Sq Ft, this is likely 20′ x 10’…

    Agreed!

The layout looks like the Minim. Do you know if it is wider than 8.5 feet?

DJ, yes… seems an article was written on the company that built it in the Telegram… It states it is 20′ x 10’…

Any idea how much it costs? The website doesn’t say.

Garrett, the Haileys (owners) paid $35,000 for the house and trailer. But, since this got featured on Tiny House Nation, additional funds and material for the project came from corporate sponsorships that included Capstone (builders, it was their second Tiny House shown on the network), Lowe’s Home Improvement, Koopman Lumber and Pleasant Valley Plumbing and Heating.

Not to mention custom work done by Zack Giffin…

So it’s probably closer to around $50K-$60K if you paid the whole thing out of pocket…

It does look nice. It could be 10 wide. Any solar features.? Like the bed.

Barb, not at the time it was built back in 2014-15… Though, the owners could have upgraded since then… At the time, it was placed on a property and grid tied…

Btw, Barb, if you meant hidden features like the bed then yes… The bookcase folds out to close off the space above the bed and there’s a little something on the wall by the kitchen as well…

The owners also have two cats, so if you look up you’ll see some catwalks have been included as well… and the lighthouse is also functional, but they generally have to leave it off because of the neighbors ;-p

Some very neat touches – I really like the pull-out bed, but please, unless the “shutters” are actually big enough to be functional – LOOSE THEM! I know they have become a popular exterior feature, but shutters that are smaller than the windows just look stupid! Better yet, REAL, functioning shutters are a great thing on a tiny house! So make them functional! I’ve been thinking of adding some to my tiny house.

Looks like the Minim layout…and the décor is fantastic! I love the bookcase/screen foldout to have a ‘room’ and the lighthouse on the outside is adorable

Yes, this design borrows liberally from the Minim house. They’re getting ripped off all across the country. It’s interesting that at 10′ wide, they still show it being towed by a pickup. Hard to tell though. The extra 2′ makes so much difference.

Looks terrific. Kitchen….Absolutely NO counter space or storage. The appliances may as well be decorative. No kitchen table but a couch to sprawl on. Looks good but useless as something to actually live in. Closets?

Ellen, actually there’s more to the house than the photos show…

If you’re curious then watch Tiny House Nation S02E14 – 180 Sq Ft. Tiny Lighthouse, in which this house was showcased…

This is my favorite tiny house ever. I am curious about the cost and the specific dimensions. How can I get more information?

  • Linda

I think I have seen this design before and that “decoration” on the wall that is wood with a light house on it, is really a table/counter space that folds down. I could be wrong, but I believe it is. ANYWAY, counter space could be solved to some extent with a nice size rolling island place between the stools (turned the other way…like bookends!) Also would provide much needed storage space for kitchen. It is really lovely. Love the bed and the way the bookcase functions. Where do they sit in that room? Is it like a computer nook or something? Some very good ideas.

Linda, this was shown on Tiny House Nation… Pretty much all of the designs by Brian Crabb have been on the show over the years…

This one was specifically Tiny House Nation S02E14 – 180 Sq Ft. Tiny Lighthouse… It’s either mis-listed or they somehow added another 20 sq ft over the last 2-3 years but yes, as one can imagine, anything dealing with Zack Giffin taking part in the build usually results in a number of surprise features like art that turns into a table, etc. ;-p
