Lessons from the Epu Design
- Dual Axle Trailers Handle Larger Loads: Even at 89 square feet, dual axles provide stability and weight distribution for towing
- Porches Add Usable Outdoor Space: A small front porch extends living area without adding to the interior footprint
- Rear Kitchens Create Entry Clearance: Placing the kitchen at the back keeps the entrance open and welcoming
- Built-in Desks Enable Remote Work: Dedicated workspace integrated into the design supports living and working in the same small space
- Compact Designs Are Easier to Move: Smaller footprints require lighter trailers and are simpler to tow and maneuver

Instead of a bed in your lofts, why don’t you just start using Resource Furniture’s desk/bed in all of the tiny houses? Yes, it’s a little expensive, but you only buy it ONCE and it would be worth it to me to NOT have to climb up into a loft every night. Then use the loft for your pantry, out-of-season clothing, etc. Check out their video. You’ll love it. Also, why not use a DVD/CD/videotape 6′ revolving storage rack for all of your kitchen stuff. It only takes up about 16″ – 2 ft and has FOUR sides of storage. Smiles, AnnieinKC
P.S. Why couldn’t you skip the shower stall and have a small soaker bathtub with a fold-down bed over it, with a fold-down countertop/desk over it?
Awesome freakin’ idea, AnnieinKC!
My thought for my wee modified Irish Vardo is to put a pull-out tub on rails underneath my raised cupboard bed; I like showers, but in my Vardo (8 x 14) space is at more of a premium, because it has no loft.
Besides– I’m a 54-year-old woman, building her mobile retirement home with her own two hands, and I just don’t feel like cramming all of that stuff into my home like Jay Schafer does…( ironic pause ). *Heh*
Great ideas Annie! That desk/bed is great, I love it. Thanks for sharing.
One other comment that I never see talked about… I’m sure there are many others like me who cannot qualify for a mortgage and barely make ends meet on my monthly paycheck. So how does one pay for a tiny house? Most of them sell for $20k – $45k. The people who can most afford them (or get the loans) aren’t the ones who need the financial break that a tiny house brings! LOL! Smiles, AnnieinKC
