This is the story of Gretchen’s stealth camper van conversion. She bought a van, moved in with her two Scotties (named Flanagan and Campbell), and then eventually had it insulated and converted by purchasing a kit from a company in Colorado that specializes in van conversions! So here’s how it all went down.

I (and my two scotties, Flanagan and Campbell) set off from Seattle to Colorado Springs in mid-October to have the kit installed at Wayfarer vans.

This is freundship. It’s a German couple’s Volkswagen cargo van conversion with a really cool tailgate loveseat that flips down and hides away when not in use.

I think it’s pretty genius! It seems like it would give you that feeling of being on your porch except with this porch, you can change your location whenever you want to!

This is the story of Kate and Ian and how they’re living and traveling in their 1996 Dodge B1500 Van Conversion. On their website, they even show you how to live in a van if that’s something you’re interested in doing too.

We wanted to minimize the amount of stuff that we owned and travel while we’re young and able. We started this trip with the goal of seeing all of the 48 contiguous states. We had originally planned on only traveling for a few months, but we’ve had such a great time with this we are now planning to travel much longer. We’ve just passed the one year mark and we have no desire to turn back now.

This is the DoubleBack VW Transporter Campervan.

When on the road, the pod stays tucked up inside the back of the vehicle. Once the driver stops and decides they’d like to settle down someplace, however, it electrically extends out of the rear in under 45 seconds, adding approximately two meters (6.5 feet) of useable interior space.1
