Josh loves to cook, and his previous two van conversions didn’t have the space he needed to make amazing dishes on the road. So in his latest van, Boondocker 3.0, he made sure to have double countertops and a super cool “speakeasy” cabinet that rises from behind his pop-up shower.

His van conversion is built to keep him out of campgrounds and in nature, so it comes equipped with plenty of solar power to sustain his needs. He chose to close off the cab but included a super narrow door so he could access it if he needed to. His bed is fixed, and there’s a composting toilet under the bench that feeds to a tank. What do you think of Josh’s van?

VanGo Outfitters is a van conversion company in the United Kingdom. Max says it all started when he lived in Australia, where he got a job building out vans for a company in Sydney. He had previously worked as a boat builder for Princess Yachts while on his placement year, in which he studied product design.

His company has been operational for 2.5 years, and Max is hoping to have a series of customizable floor plans as well as a fleet of rentals. To date, they’ve done around 20 van conversions! Below you’ll see one they completed a few months ago, that includes a queen bed and a convertible child’s bed, as well as an indoor shower.

Kyle and Stephanie first got into vanlife to escape the city. It was more of a weekend van that they built out on the fly. But that experience equipped them to create this amazing second rig, which they worked on tirelessly for 8 months. Kyle’s previous work in sculpture prepared him to make some of the most gorgeous DIY cabinets we’ve seen!

They store all their gear on the back of the van with lockers and racks because they chose to use the “garage” space as a dinette. Their DIY elevator bed system makes getting ready for bedtime easy. In the bathroom, you’ll find a shower and composting toilet, and they have more counterspace than nearly any van we’ve featured. Enjoy the tour!

Get excited today for the story of how these brothers-in-law started a van conversion business in the United Kingdom,  and a photo tour of their latest bespoke creation designed for a tall dog-owner. Jorvik Van Conversions was born in the midst of lockdown, and they’ve been converting vans ever since.

The Sandy is their signature base design, which can be customized to meet the client’s needs. In this conversion, there’s a special dog crate area under the bed, as well as an extra long and wide bed to make it comfortable for the owner to sleep in. All Sandy models have a great L-shaped couch area in the front of the van, which can become a spare bed if needed. Be sure to read our Q&A with Jorvik Van Conversions after the pictures!

We’ve seen tons of van conversions, but the Nevis van conversion from Brown Bird and Company has some truly one-of-a-kind features. The L-shaped couch really stands out, and there’s a wet bath partitioning off the double bed in the back of the conversion.

Unlike most conversions, the kitchen is in the front of the van across the cab. This makes the inside of the van feel particularly wide open! We got to interview Laura, one of the three masterminds of the company, below, so don’t miss that.

Get ready for a wild ride with this awesome family! Jake, Gianna and their daughter first set out with van life in 2018. When Gianna found out she was expecting again, they upgraded to a bus. But after three years on the road, the family ultimately decided to “settle down” again and purchased a home, build out buses and vans for work, and run a glamping business opening this fall!

I love their story because it shows how nomadic/tiny living can be for a season, and totally change the trajectory of your life for the better. They reached out to us and shared some Q&A answers about their time on the road, and you can enjoy the read after checking out pictures of their van and bus builds.

Chris and Bobby met soon after Chris sold her Florida home. The couple wanted to travel together internationally, but the pandemic sidetracked those plans. Before they knew it they were dreaming of a van! While they still have a “home base,” they spent nearly 2 months on the road together in their van travelling the country.

And because of Bobby’s 30+ years of construction experience, the couple decided to start a van conversion business and help others get the build of their dreams. As you’ll see from their person build, Ivan, they do great work!
