This article on Golden Eagle Cottages are in Trinidad, CA is a Guest Post by Minette Lemieux Dunn (Submit Yours Here)

I stayed at a “cottage” in Trinidad, CA that I think with a few minor modifications (a closet for clothes) would make a perfect little house.

Bed was on rollers and they had a sky light in the middle of the room so you could roll it out and look up at the stars.

Here are a few pictures I took.

The place was called Golden Eagle Cottages, you can find them on Trip Advisor but their pictures aren’t as detailed of the inside like mine.

I would guess the cottage to be 400 – 450 sq. ft., not including the front porch/deck.

I thought you’d also like this tiny house on a foundation in Paris, France.

To me, it just goes to show how you can design and build tiny in so many ways other than on wheels (see our small houses, tiny cabins and apartment categories).

I’d like to see more and more homes like these being designed and built for people all over the world who prefer not to over-house themselves.

As soon as you walk in through the front door you’re immediately greeted by the living room and corner kitchen.

This modern dome home looks like an alien spacecraft.

It was built in 1969 and the design was later features in a January 1975 issue of Popular Science.

Incredibly enough it’s designed to withstand up to 250 mph of wind!

And inside you’ll find just about everything in a regular home. In fact, this is a 3-bedroom house!

There’s a living room, full kitchen, bathroom and patio.

These travel trailer to cabin conversions are for those of you who love the idea of tiny living but want to remain as mobile as possible.

With a trailer renovation like this you can still move about since these units are aerodynamic and lighter in weight than stick built homes on trailers.

And even if you don’t want to move around very often, trailers renovated like this easily serve as tiny cabins on your land.

That’s why I’m showing you these two classic trailers that have been tastefully renovated and decorated for the simple life.

If you’ve ever wanted a treehouse as a kid and are now interested in tiny living I think you’ll love this..

It’s a micro cabin with a balcony/deck that hovers over the main house on the property.

But it’s not just any kid’s fort either… This is a fully functioning micro cabin with:

  • kitchenette
  • sleeping loft
  • downstairs bed
  • fireplace
  • wall mounted LCD TV
  • outdoor shower/bathroom

How can you not like this modernized tiny cottage of just 250 square feet with a sleeping loft in Seattle?

It’s built by Michelle de la Vega who is an artist and designer in the area. Do you agree when they say the cottage is modern and rustic? I do.

My favorite part about it is how everything about it seems ‘normal’ sized even though it’s just 250 sq. ft. which I think might be important when sharing space with others for long periods.

It has a wood burning stove, big french doors and a large bathtub you can get wrinkly in while rejuvenating.
