Anyway, Rich Daniels has been building some really awesome tiny houses that I think you’ll also like and be inspired from. Some are 8′ wide tiny homes on trailers and others are wider and longer than ‘usual’ and are considered ‘Park Model’ homes. Either way, I believe both can be used to simplify and downsize our lives depending on how far you want to downsize. And really what’s best for you and makes you happiest.

This is the ultra-portable Elaine Cabin tiny house on wheels built by Rich Daniels of Rich’s Portable Cabins.
In the past, I’ve shown you one of his park model tiny houses and another ‘extra long’ tiny house built by him as well. They’re both really cool and he’s built quite a lot of little portable homes. The home is about 8′ wide and 22′ long so approximately 176 sq. ft. of space. What do you think?

The purpose of this off grid tiny house was to offer young couples or millennials the ability to live outside the hustle and bustle of the big city.
To have the ability to live off grid in a tiny house while being more environmentally friendly is the idea here.
Initially research was collected to see what young people wanted.
Data showed not everyone was completely ready to move off-the-grid. Or to even live in a smaller space.
The goal behind this design was to get young couples comfortable with the idea of living small, simple, but not completely off-the-grid.

A recent Bloomberg article on the tiny house movement features tiny house living success stories, builders, and influencers which makes for a really fun read.
The article covers topics such as costs to build a tiny house and how people don’t really need a lot of money to be able to own their own house.
It features Doug Immel, who’s almost done building his 164 square feet dream tiny home so that he can retire simply in it.
As you read you’ll also discover a section completely dedicated to living without a mortgage because that’s what the micro house movement is all about… freedom.

I’ve talked about April Anson and her tiny house before. She’s a Ph.D. graduate who decided to go tiny for economic reasons since there were no jobs in her field. Living in a tiny house has made things better for her.
With the cost savings from her decision to be living tiny she’s able to travel to more conferences she enjoys, she can buy and read more books, and she just gets to have more personal freedom.
Otherwise, April says, she’d be having to spend up to 75% of her income on rent. And that’s no way to get ahead.

Since we’re finally so blessed to have an entire TV show dedicated to tiny houses (yes- I’m talking about the Tiny House Nation TV Show on tonight 7/9/14 at 10pm est) I’m also excited about Zack Giffin (co-host of the show) sharing his adventures with us from the last few months (and maybe even years).
I say this because it seems as he’s been ‘secretly’ building tiny houses in anticipation for the show for the last few months and he’s had to stay quiet about it the entire time. But starting today it’s all finally being revealed to us. And I’m just so excited to see what Zack and his team at FYI Television Network (part of A&E and formerly known as the Biography Channel in case you’re having trouble finding FYI in your channel lineup).

It’s a foreign product that’s probably really expensive and completely unobtainable for those of us like you and me who want to live simply so we can also live affordably. Straight out of a storybook this sweet little whimsical cottage is a dream come true for Sue Corl and her husband Ron.
The cottages’ design, look and feel was based on Sue’s childhood dream of having a tiny cottage just like Rudolph, Hermey & Yukon Cornelius (from the Classic cartoon Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer).
Thus the name of their tiny home, “The Rudolph Cottage“.
Ron and Sue have been living tiny for over 28 years. After living in a 200 sq. ft. travel trailer for seven years with their two cats and a large dog they decided it was time to up-size (or should I say ‘right-size’?).
So they bought 30 acres of beautiful lush woodland amongst the largest Amish community in central Ohio.
Then they spent over 2 years gathering the perfect materials to create this whimsical fantasy tiny house Sue always dreamed of.
