Sophie and Henry felt strongly about living sustainably, and building an eco-friendly DIY tiny home — while living a minimalist lifestyle — fit perfectly into that passion.

Their combined experience in architecture and framing made them perfect candidates for building their own home, although it did take them longer than they had thought (a common theme in most DIY projects, I find!). They (@RADtinyhome) had to uproot their lives and move away from the Twin Cities to a more rural area to find parking, but the side effect of that is more time in and connectedness to nature.

Even if you can’t go tiny right now, there are ways to embrace low-waste living, which they outline in this simple guide here. You can read our Q&A with the couple at the end of the post after checking out their awesome tour below! They even did a breakdown of costs to build their tiny, and made a nice pie chart graph to help you visualize it…

When Tina and her partner went in different directions, it left her with a tough decision to make: Leave their barn home and sell her animals, or find someway to live on pasture with her herd of sheep and goats (and her cats and dogs)?

Tiny living was the perfect solution! With the help of her dad, she built a tiny home from the trailer-up for about 20,000 EUR (~$24,500) and gets her water/electricity from a nearby barn while living in the meadow with her flock. She (@tiny.tohuwabohu on Instagram) has everything she needs and didn’t have to sacrifice her animals to get it.

Inside her home she has a full kitchen, bathroom with composting toilet, and a loft bedroom. She even has a front porch from which she can see her animals and the lovely countryside. We got to interview her, so be sure to read the Q&A at the end of the post!

No need to worry about parking this beautiful Serenity Tiny House at Little River Escape in Georgia! This house is for sale on a stunning lot, which you pay a monthly lot rental fee for.

The $450/month private wooded lot sits overlooking a creek, and includes water/sewer/garbage. The lots at the community are 3/4 of an acre on average, meaning there’s no “postage stamp” feeling here! The community sprawls through 50 acres atop Lookout Mountain, and comes with oodles of amenities including a pool, community fire pit, walking trails, 24-hour fitness room, dog park and more.

The home itself is 200 square feet, with tons of additional outdoor living space including a rooftop deck and screened-in porch. It comes fully furnished and there’s a king-sized bed up in the loft! Enjoy the photo tour, and contact Little River Escape about purchasing this beauty ($68,500 asking price).

Meet Derrick and Kelly: They’ve been living in their DIY vintage-and-antique-filled THOW now for 2.5 years. They’ve moved it three times, and lived in both California and Montana, taking their home with them.

Living tiny has allowed them to tackle their debt and still enjoy amazing vacations like a 3-week trip to Europe! Altogether, the materials for their tiny home cost around $35,000, and nearly 60% of them were recycled or reclaimed, which makes their home super unique.

We got to interview the couple (@tinyhousebigsky) which you can read at the end of the post, and Tiny Home Tours did a fantastic video tour of their home about a year ago, which you can watch as well. Enjoy!

Meet Grace! This is her tiny house on wheels that she lives in with her fiance Ryan and dog Tofu. They settled on the ONE model from ESCAPE and found a gorgeous wooded spot for it to live on the Massachusetts-New Hampshire border.

Grace (@inner.grace on Instagram) works as a yoga instructor and health/mindset coach and her plant-filled home couldn’t feel more peaceful. We interviewed her about her decision to go tiny and her minimalist lifestyle, so be sure to check out the Q&A at the end of the post!

Meet Alexis, and her 11-month-old daughter Nalani. Alexis bought her amazing tiny house from Cornerstone Tiny Homes, and it has everything she wanted including a built-in bookshelf for all her books and an under-the-stairs reading nook.

She found a tiny home community in Florida to park her little house and it costs just $450/month rather than the $750 she had previously been paying in rent (while living with a roommate!). Now she has a place of her own designed to meet all her needs (wait until you see the kitchen sink!) that she can share with her adorable daughter. She wants other single moms to know this a dream they can achieve!

We interviewed her so be sure to read the Q&A after the photo tour, and follow Alexis on Instagram for updates!

During this COVID-19 crisis, we’re all trying to self-isolate and #stayhome as much as possible — which gets a little interesting when you live in spaces under 300 square feet!

We decided to check in on some tiny house dwellers around the world and see how they’re holding up during quarantine and what they’re doing to stay sane! From creating a work-from-home office to long nature walks to binge-watching Tiger King, these tiny homers are figuring out how to live large despite the tight quarters.

Tiffany the Tiny House: Tim & Sam

Tim & Sam live on a campground North of Sarasota, Florida in their THOW.

What’s been the hardest thing about quarantine in a tiny home? Definitely both of us working from home. We don’t have office chairs with lumbar support, so it can be tough to find a spot to settle in for an 8 hour work day but make it work. If one is in a webinar and someone needs to take a phone call we utilize the outside space for separate areas.

What have you been doing to stay sane? Tim is constantly doing something at the new property and tiding things up there. He has a bunch of projects to work on. He also bought an Xbox to play with friends to keep a social interaction alive. Sam is still working normal hours, but spends lots of time cooking, reading, and Facetiming friends.

New Frontier Tiny Homes calls their Cornelia model the “Artist’s Muse” and it’s easy to see why. Complete with a fold-down writer’s desk and wrap-around shelving, this cozy 24-foot THOW is the perfect space to write America’s next great novel (or some blog posts).

Designer David Latimer (@davidlatimer_ on Instagram) created the house for bestselling author Cornelia Funke, and now you can have a replica. The loft bedroom features 270-degree views which definitely helps the claustrophobia factor, and the ladder rolls all around the house, making it easy to access books or knickknacks stored on the shelves.

Enjoy the photo tour below, and be sure to check out more from New Frontier Tiny Homes.

Just about three years ago we interviewed Brian and Alexis, the owners of the Juniper THOW they built with help from Backcountry Tiny Homes. The couple (and their dog) had just finished up the house at the time, but now they’ve been tiny-housing it for more than three years! We decided to get back in touch and see how tiny life has lived up to their expectations and changed their lives for the better.

While magazine-ready photos of THOWs are fun to look at, it’s great to see all of Brian and Alexis’ Instagram pictures (follow them @living_the_tiny_dream) showing what real life in a tiny house looks like. Because of choosing to live tiny, Brian has successfully paid off all his student loans (Congratulations!) and the couple pays less than $12 a quarter in electricity. That’s impressive!

Check out their real-life pictures in the photo tour below, and then find our Q&A with the couple at the end of this post.
