This is another awesome one-story build by Clayton Tiny Homes in Alabama: The 45o Sq. Ft. Saltbox Model.

If you ever get lucky enough to find beach-front property, this is the house you’ll want to build (but honestly, it would look awesome anywhere). It’s sleek and sandy-colored interior, filled with windows to let in the sunrise, makes this the ultimate retirement pad.

You may have see the Low Country model yesterday, so you know that the best part of Clayton Tiny Homes will work to get your tiny home plans approved by your local government, and to help you build according to the zoning requirements in your town so your tiny home is fully legal! They can’t change the laws, but they can help you abide by them. Have questions about what that means? You can read all about those details in their blog post here.

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures, 3D tour, and details about the Saltbox model below!

This is the 464 Sq. Ft. Low Country Model by Clayton Tiny Homes in Alabama.

The one-level, one-bedroom home is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect option for anyone wary of steps. But the best part of Clayton Tiny Homes is that this builder constructs tiny homes to the small modular home standards in your state, as well as the International Residential Code (although they only deliver to a handful of states because of this).

Clayton will also work to get your tiny home plans approved by your local government, and to help you build according to the zoning requirements in your town so your tiny home is fully legal! They can’t change the laws, but they can help you abide by them. Have questions about what that means? You can read all about those details in their blog post here. Please enjoy the pictures, 3D tour, and learn more about the Low Country model below!

You might remember Robinson Residential’s work from their amazing Dragonfly 20 Tiny House.

Designer John Robinson just got in touch with us to tell us about a new design series of his: 13 small homes inspired by one of the ten provinces and 3 territories of Canada to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary!

Canada has a very diverse terrain and culture and I want to highlight those unique aspects with these homes. These designs are between 250 and 700 square feet, and provide unique living spaces for people, who want to live in something that is not ordinary and experience architecture of other locales.

These homes will likely not be as affordable as many people will request, but by building them themselves and re-using existing materials, there are potential cost savings. We will offer very detailed construction drawings for these homes so that self builds are possible and practical. The plans follow most building codes but zoning issues may remain in some areas for homes of this size.

We are launching these plans every Friday and will continue doing so for the next 10 weeks…We can modify these plans to suit particular situations as well.

So come Tiny House Talk each week to see the latest from Robinson Designs, starting with the Nova Scotia and Alberta A frame plans that have already been released.

This is a 17th Century Stable Cottage that’s been totally renovated into a lovely vacation home in Sussex, England.

I love seeing one-floor plans with a big, open main living area. I think for folks who hate stairs, this kind of floor plan is perfect! The bedroom and bathroom sit off the main room that overlooks stunning pasture dotted with sheep.

This is a Central Oregon Sunriver Vacation Cottage you can rent via Home Away.

Why show vacation properties? Sometimes these older cottages and cabins are cleverly designed! We can always glean something from examining the open layout and, of course, the beautiful exterior of this home. It doesn’t share the square-footage, but this is certainly more of a “small” home. Might give families some ideas for downsizing!

This is the 592 Sq. Ft. Hummingbird Cottage built for a family’s mother-in-law by Ralph Jones Home Plans, LLC.

Janne Zaccagnino created the plans for the home and normally doesn’t see the finished product, but because she knew the owner she was able to take pictures of the completed home, which she shared with us!

At almost 600 sq. ft., it’s certainly a “small” house rather than tiny, but I think it could make a great retirement cottage. Contact info at the bottom!
