This is a park model RV designed and built like a train caboose which of course can be used as a ‘large’ tiny house on wheels.
Normally park models are about 400 sq. ft. with extra loft space up top in addition. The designer of this one is a retired train engineer and veteran. Unfortunately this particular model doesn’t have a kitchen or bathroom as it’s being used for the owner’s train and caboose collectibles. Either way I thought you’d like to look at it too since I’m sure you can also see how easy it would be to finish it as a fully functioning tiny home.

If you’re into tiny living, great! But if it’s a little too tight… Let’s say you’re sharing the tiny home with a loved one, then you might need more space because where are you going to put all of your stuff? That’s why I like showing people these ‘park model’ tiny houses because it’s still the same concept only slightly larger and more spacious.
So it’s way more functional and doable long-term on a full-time simple living basis (especially if you’re NOT living alone). Obviously, this is definitely NOT something you’d want to go with if you were planning on moving around quite a bit or even traveling with your ‘tiny home’ because these are heavier and you even need a special permit (license) to tow them.

This is a luxury park model tiny cottage with a rooftop terrace.
As I’ve said time and time again if you like the idea of simple living, but you don’t like going as extreme as 200-square-feet or less…
Then you may want to consider a home like the one you’re seeing here. A park model. These are usually around 400-square-feet.

To have a park model tiny house / log cabin on your own land somewhere does sound pretty awesome.
This particular model is only available in Idaho, Montana, Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Check out the Pacific Lodge built and manufactured by Palm Harbor Homes.
It is a 386 square feet wooden cabin with one bedroom/one bath and a sleeping loft.
The dimensions are: 34 x 11’2. It’s classified as a park model home.
Maybe some of us should consider designing and building our tiny houses to park model specs if we want more space and a downstairs bedroom?

I just had to show you this 400 sq. ft. oak log cabin on wheels from Gastineau Log Homes. It’s their Log Cabins 2 Go line of homes that are under the Park Model category.
This means they’re built on trailers but since they’re wider than 8’6″ you’d need to hire professional movers to tow it or acquire the “wide load” permit/license yourself. So it costs more to move. But you get a lot more valuable space inside. I think it’s a great option if you want a downstairs bedroom, more space, all while still having the ability to move if you really wanted to.

If you’re into tiny houses but even 8′ x 30′ feels like it’d be too tight then you’ll probably like this 392 sq. ft. ESCAPE cabin. It’s a park model cabin!
It’s 28′ x 14′ so plenty of extra space compared to most tiny homes on wheels that meet the 8’6″ width standards which is mainly so you can tow your own house without any permits. The ESCAPE is still portable only you’d have to pay for professional help to move it which is costly so you wouldn’t want to move very often unless you really have to. So here it is. The Classic ESCAPE.

The Classic ESCAPE Park Model Cabin
For me, I’d only have this moved if I really had to. My plan would be to find the right plot of land and leave this there for as long as it can last with proper care/maintenance.
Here, let me show you inside:
