So how do two adults and two children fit their entire lives in less than 700 sq. ft.? This family did it by completely rebuilding their apartment with the help of a local carpenter.
They intentionally decided to downsize so they can live in the city after experiencing living outside of Copenhagen beforehand. They sold many of their belongings, downsized some more, and started to rebuild the apartment. Thanks to their hard work and thoughtful downsizing process, today they get to live a wonderful simple life in the heart of the city. Please enjoy and re-share below. Thank you!
Wow! A mere $7,000 to build a weekend getaway destination in just two weeks!? Almost unbelievable, and certainly amazing!
Tammy and John built this tiny, 180 square foot tiny cabin (with the help of a friend) to use for weekend trips with their two small children and dog. The cabin itself is obviously very small, but many features make it appear more open, such as translucent corrugated fiberglass panels and an attached deck and yard for the children and dog to play.
The plans John chose to build the cabin were actually inspired by designs for sheds! The costs were kept at a minimum, due to bargain-hunting, homemade curtains and bed linens, and even trash-can diving! I think you’ll agree that the cabin is truly a work of love and partnership!
About a year ago I introduced you to Shaye and Tom thanks to the people over at Living Big in a Tiny House. I love this story because this couple decided to ‘just go for it’ and take advantage of the benefits of tiny house living early in their life. They’re now enjoying more freedom and are building a life on their own terms.
Right now I’m here to give you an update on them since a lot has changed for them after living in their tiny house for one year. They now have a newborn daughter named Hazel. Their tiny house has a new porch and it’s fully decorated inside. And if you really like their house you can even buy the plans to build one just like it yourself.
In this video interview you’ll get to meet a family of three (husband, wife, and daughter) who have downsized to a 117 sq. ft. tiny home on wheels.
They built it the house from scratch by hand in the mornings while later working nights. It took only 3 months to have it move in ready.
They went from paying $400 a month in utilities with their big house to paying only about $20 a month today in their tiny house. Now the family lives simply with no television.
And for them the decision to go tiny wasn’t just about money. It’s about living a better life for everybody. The house cost about $6-$8k to build thanks to being able to use recycled materials.
They spent an extra $12,000 to put up solar panels to power the house without having to completely rely on the grid. Please enjoy the video tour below.
I thought I would share this tiny house tour with you from Slabtown Customs.
Scott Stewart (owner of the company and designer/builder) gives you a complete tour of their Flipped Loft tiny home while it’s furnished and being lived in.
I know that you probably like to see examples of tiny houses being lived in and you’ll love this because it’s a tiny home for a family of four!
That means… Yes… There’s even a kids room in here!
I encourage you to learn more about this house and how you might be able to get one or build one yourself below if you want to:
