Here you can stay in either one of these dome homes. Both are completely off grid and solar powered.
The first dome is 20 ft around and is decorated with a unique artistry flare. Inside is a queen bed, full sofa bed, small kitchenette, table with 4 chairs, and plenty of windows.
The adjacent dome is 22 ft. with huge windows however it’s unfinished and has uninsulated walls. It still has 4 comfortable full size sofa beds with huge windows overlooking the views. This dome can be very cold in the winter since it’s not insulated.
The owner, Magdalen Boyd-Wilson says, “Dragonfly is an alternative solar powered, off-the-grid, artistic, architectural and sculptural project that has been and will evolve over the next few years to its completion. As an artist and a designer, with a passion for alternative architecture, Dragonfly Desert Retreat represents a vision perhaps ¾ finished. In 2006, I began designing, building and living here for 4 years full time, with much fewer conveniences than it now has. While I am still working to complete the vision and make it more and more comfortable, the setting allows one to experience the pioneering spirit, and feel a deep connection to the exquisite natural surroundings.”

I’m excited to share this tropical tiny house with you. I’d love living here, how about you? The private one bedroom guest house is located in Topanga Canyon, California. And it’s available to rent through Airbnb. The surrounding property is lush with greenery, secluded patio areas, hammocks and daybed. I can imagine the daybed out front being very cozy on a lazy afternoon.
Inside the tiny cottage is a living area and open kitchen. The one bedroom is just off from the living room. And the bathroom is awesome because of the rock shower… And don’t miss the outdoor seashell bathtub. The interior walls of the home are a mix of rocks and bamboo weaving. This is an 8’6″ x 20′ craftsman style bungalow tiny house on wheels by Molecule Tiny Homes. It has a beautiful kitchen with an oversized farm-style sink. I think you’ll love it! You know, anytime they build something new for their clients I’m thrilled because they always seem to do an amazing job so I highly recommend if you’re interested to schedule your build with them.
And this time, it’s no different. This awesome little home has everything you could ask for in a tiny house. There are two lofts with dormers. The main loft is 8’x10′ and the second one is 8’x8′. You’ll also find that it has a unique and absolutely beautiful interior with plenty of storage space, a wonderful bathroom, and a gorgeous (and useful) kitchen. A while back, I showed you Vina’s 140 sq. ft. tiny home on wheels, which she built for only $35,000. Since then, it’s been updated a bit, so I wanted to share it with you again.
Her home is built onto an 8′ x 20′ trailer, giving her about 140 square feet of interior space to work with inside. The best part is that the micro house is entirely self-sufficient.
So Vina can live a lifestyle that aligns with her philosophy on living simply, being sustainable, and living a debt-free lifestyle. Pretty awesome, isn’t it?

Meet Alysha, her kids, and their tiny house in Red Bluff, California. It was built with the help of the Oregon Cottage Company.
She decided to move she and her kids into a tiny home after her husband passed away tragically and unexpectedly in his early 30s after serving in the United States Air Force.
Alysha knew she had to do the best with what she had. So she decided to pick up a lifestyle that would allow her to spend the most time raising her two young children, especially since she would do it alone.
Her tiny house was built by architect Todd Miller in Eugene, Oregon. She now rents out her former ‘big house’ for immediate income and lives in the backyard.

I’m glad to announce that a team of good hearted people in Chico, California have organized the Chico Housing Action Team and their mission is to bring a tiny house village to serve their homeless population.
Right now there’s a growing trend of tiny house villages and communities being created to help the homeless population throughout the United States. I list current communities in this page.
If everything goes as planned for Chico’s first tiny house community it will open Winter 2014. This ‘village’ model has been working successfully in Portland for more than a decade and is now spreading throughout the country to benefit more people in need of truly affordable housing.

If you love tiny houses but seriously question whether you think you’d be able to live in one or not long term renting one is a great way to figure that out.
And although expensive, it costs much less money and time than building one and finding out the hard way that it isn’t right for you.
So for those of you sort of on the fence about it, I highly recommend booking your next vacation in a tiny house and getting some real life experience with one first hand.
Trust me because it might end up saving you months of labor and thousands of dollars. Because what if a small house is better for you than a tiny one? Again, best way to find out, is stay in one for a while and experience it.
