This is Robin Hood’s Hideout, a magical storybook cottage by Havenwald in Dipping Springs, Texas (near Austin) that you can book as your next tiny house vacation.

Robin Hood’s Hideout is a tiny, storybook cottage made almost entirely of architectural salvage. Cedar, walnut, carved doorknobs, stained glass and a knightly chandelier are just a few of the 30+ vintage materials that charm this little bungalow. Our place is called Havenwald, which means “haven in the woods.” Oaks, cedars, wildlife and starry skies stay here. Tranquility, respect and kindness stay here. When you stay here, we hope you’ll discover why we say at Havenwald, magic stays here!1

Remember Professor Wilson? He’s the teacher I once told you about who took a dumpster and turned it into a tiny home and then followed through by living in it for 10 months!

That’s right! He actually lived in a converted DUMPSTER for ten months (happily)!

And now, according to Kirsten Dirksen, Jeff Wilson is creating, promoting and selling the “iPhone for housing”! And I think he’s on to something!

In the video (below), Jeff says, “things have not changed in real estate since 1884,” and I couldn’t agree more!

So this is the Kasita! It’s an incredible yet very simple idea but what do you think?

When you go inside you will notice there is a large, open and bright living area with plenty of natural sunlight coming in. The outdoor deck gives you extra space to spend time outside.

The small kitchenette doubles as laundry space and there is a nice size bathroom with shower. Above the bathroom and kitchen is the sleeping loft with a sitting area. Please enjoy and share below.

If you’ve ever wanted to take a tiny house vacation I think this is yet another great option for doing just that.

There’s nothing better than trying out tiny before you make the huge commitment to downsize into a tiny house.

It can take a really long time, a good amount of money, and a lot of hard work to design and build your own tiny home.

So it’s really smart to give it a try before you do all that just to make sure that it’s something you can see yourself doing for a long time, don’t you think?

I’ve been covering tiny houses and other smaller and alternative types of housing for the last few years and I can say that it’s easy to find great examples of small homes every day.

What bothers me is that the majority of what I find is the opposite of affordable housing. It’s normally boutique hotels, places to go “glamping”, and/or expensive real estate in highly populated areas.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with any of that. I think it’s great that there are all of these ways that people who aren’t in need can explore and discover housing that might one day make their lives better through simplicity.

And all of this helps lead to making our world better (environmentally, socially and economically). But now, more than ever, there seems to be a dire need for truly affordable and smarter housing. And in this area of Austin, Texas, one man is leading the way to accomplishing that right now.

The goal? To help get 200 people back on their feet and out of homelessness.

It’s a 29 acre property with tiny cottages, teepees, and travel trailers completely dedicated to serving 200 local people who are chronically homeless.

“Allan Graham is the man behind the vision. A former businessman, he took it upon himself to change the life of Austin’s homeless population.”

Kanga Room Systems creates modern prefab tiny houses that I think you might like. They are a housing company in Austin, Texas and their units can be used for working, living, or backyard studios.

In addition, they build playhouses, add-on rooms, and cabins. Customers can assemble the parts themselves or they can pay extra for professional installation. With two of their units which you’ll see below, they were able to create the ultimate backyard pool-side guest compound. I really like the way that they set this up and also like the idea of setting up two tiny houses on wheels in a similar fashion with a shared deck. What do you think of these KANGA tiny homes? Would you consider one?
