This dome isn’t tiny, but it’s amazing! The three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath structure sits on 42 acres of private woodland in Kennebunkport, Maine, and looks like a true retreat from it all.  The structure is all solar-powered and offers a hammock forest, fire pit, and beautiful forest views. Inside, the open-concept dome has a living room, dining area, and kitchen that flow together seamlessly. A staircase goes up to the “loft” bedroom, where two twin beds rest side-by-side near a reading nook. There are also two queen bedrooms, and a full bathroom with a two-person shower stall. Could you live there?

Sean and Kristi Hensley built their custom retirement tiny house after a lifetime in construction and several smaller-scale projects, including converting a cargo trailer for cross-country travel. When they decided to downsize, they brought decades of building experience to their own home.

Measuring 440 square feet (40′ x 11′), this home showcases clever features and luxury design elements throughout. The extra-wide 11-foot width makes a significant difference in how spacious the interior feels, allowing for features that wouldn’t fit in a standard 8.5-foot-wide tiny house.

Dustin Mori had a love for coffee drinking and roasting, and wanted to start a family business — why not ship a retired double-decker bus from the United Kingdom and transform it into a mobile coffee shop? His wife, Angie, wasn’t keen on coffee, but she was convinced, and they opened their doors in 2018!

After the success of Double Decker Espresso, they had the idea to get another double-decker bus and transform it into an Airbnb on their beautiful land in Idaho. The “Hideaway” has a cozy pub-like feel on the first level, and the second level is a beautiful English cottage bedroom, bathroom, and seating area.

Long before the modern tiny house movement, there were the famous housetrucks of the 1970s. These mobile homes were popular in both the United States and New Zealand. When James came across one, he had to have it—even though it no longer ran.

Because the truck is now stationary, James and his partner Lucy have created a lovely outdoor living area to extend their space. It includes an exterior shower attached to the truck, a separate glass “bathhouse” with a large bathtub that waters plants, and a patio area around a wood stove for entertaining. Their setup demonstrates how a vintage housetruck can anchor a creative homestead.

The exterior shows the classic housetruck aesthetic that made these vehicles so appealing in their era. James acquired this piece of tiny house history for just $500, then had it moved into place while working for a trucking company.

We don’t see as many pine-clad tiny homes as we once did, so a throwback like this is always welcome. THOWs like this give off a lovely cabin vibe! This one is single level, with a multipurpose living room and bedroom. And there’s no loft in sight.

A small kitchen area has a two-burner cooktop and a microwave, and you can plug in a refrigerator. A small counter under the window would give you some seating for mealtimes, and there’s a small bathroom in the back of the house. You can purchase this house, built by Trinity Tiny Homes NC, for $55,000.
