This is a shipping container tiny home community experiment in Oakland, California.
When Luke Iseman and Heather Stewart got sick and tired of paying outrageous rents in San Francisco, they went on Craigslist and found a lot in Oakland they could rent and decided to turn it into an experimental shipping container tiny house community that’s now being called Countertopia. They started buying used shipping containers for $2,300 from the Port of Oakland and converting them into tiny cabins.

This is a 538 sq. ft. shipping container tiny home in Greece built with a 40′ shipping container as the base.
It was built by one of our readers in two and a half months with the help of friends and the total cost was about €30,000, which converts to about $33,979 in USD. This includes the outdoor construction modifications too. Inside the ground floor, you’ll find the living room, kitchen, dining, and full kitchen. There’s also storage here. This is a 1950’s tiny caravan cabin in a small town just about an hour outside of Melbourne, Australia.
The property also has a restored tram, a small shack, and tiki bar. Sounds like a fun place, doesn’t it?
The owner, Angela Henley, lives here during the week and rents out the vintage spaces on the weekends using Airbnb.
