Derek loved traveling and was tired of being tied to leases, so he got a short-top Chevy van and converted it. After a handful of months on the road, however, he discovered he missed the stability of having a home base, so he plans to move back into a city and keep the van for roadtrips.
He did a nice job on his budget conversion, including learning how to do epoxy/resin to make some really fun beach-themed cabinets/countertops. In the back, he has a fixed bed set-up — and just wait until you see his really gorgeous sink! Tell us about your favorite feature in the comments.

Dakota wanted to get into van life and already owned a Toyota pickup that she loved, so she decided to build a camper to fit on her truck instead of buying a new rig. With the help of her brother (who builds tiny homes), she designed and built this amazing home.
Every inch was designed to meet her needs. She has a YETI cooler for her produce, a stove and oven to let her cook, and some great pull-out drawers for pantry storage. Her twin/full bed is fixed in the back of the rig, and she has windows that look into the sky for stargazing. Enjoy the tour!

Sometimes adding on to an older building with something contemporary goes wrong, but this hybrid vintage-shed-meets-modern-tiny-home perfectly combines the two eras. The older portion holds a comfy couch and eating area with a coffee bar, while the addition houses a queen-sized bed and another seating area.

For Francesca, travel was a part of life, and van life gave her the opportunity to *live* her travels. So she and her dad spent five months building a truly gorgeous van! You’d never know this wasn’t a professional conversion.

Chantal (from the Netherlands) and Lukas (from Switzerland) were dating long-distance and tired of being apart but didn’t know where to settle down. So they decided to ignore the question, convert an Opel Movano bus, and travel Europe! In the past two years, they’ve visited 24 countries and have big dreams to see more of the world from their van.
They call themselves a “traveling circus” with their ginger cat Ollie and newly adopted rescue dog Lefka along for the ride. Ollie rules the roost, but Lefka is finding a happy spot inside their little van. Enjoy their tour below and check out their van dreams at the end of the post!

Lindsey grew up as a farm kid and loved the outdoors, so it’s no surprise that after living an everyday young professional life in Chicago and NYC, she decided to simplify and live on the road. A few years in, she started looking for a better rig and came across the Overland Explorer X10 EarthRoamer in its prototype stage.
This amazing 4×4 truck camper features extensive solar power, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a nearly queen-sized bed in the back. It also has a surprising amount of storage, which is perfect for Lindsey’s impressive shoe collection. She’s been on the road for 6.5 years and has no plans to stop anytime soon.
