Meet Parker and Lexa: A young couple saving big by living in their gorgeous renovated fifth wheel in California.
He’s a photographer. She’s a wedding and event florist. They got married about two years ago and have been living tiny now for a year and a half. Lexa said they’d discussed getting a tiny house once they were married even back when they were dating, and intentionally lived in a little apartment so they’d be prepared.
While they may not live tiny forever, this lifestyle has allowed them to park on family land and save rent, preparing them for a lifetime together! Doesn’t get more amazing than that. Follow them on Instagram (@lexamstutz).

Yes, travel plans are still a bit uncertain with COVID-19, but you have to put this Irish off-grid tiny home vacation in the mountains on your bucket list!

Remember the owners of Tiffany the Tiny House and how they had purchased an island and were building a tiny octagonal foundation home to use as a rental? Well, the house is now complete!
Tim & Sam temporarily moved into the vacation spot on Shellmate Island (@shellmateisland on Instagram) so they can work out the kinks and get it ready for guests. Soon enough they’ll be putting it on Airbnb (we’ll keep you posted!) and you can enjoy a piece of their island paradise! You might also like to hear that they got approval to build the home and worked with zoning/building regulators to get it “legal.”
The 320 square foot home structure came from Deltec Homes. According to the couple, “Its unique octagon shape and custom truss system has given this home design a 99.9% success rate in the last 50 years to all major category 5 hurricanes throughout the world, making this the strongest tiny house on a foundation in the world!” Wow!
They are moving Tiffany this week from the campground where they’ve been parked and are bringing her “home” to Shellmate Island!

Meet Lexi & Tyler. They traveled the country in their converted school bus for about a year and a half before buying some land to settle down in the north part of Austin, Texas. Now the couple is living in their bus, saving to build a small home or yurt (I love yurts), and starting a homestead complete with some adorable chickens.
They escaped their $1850/month rent for a one-bedroom in Los Angeles and bought/renovated their bus for around $25,000. It is absolutely gorgeous. Burnt orange accents, white beadboard cabinetry, and a pine-paneled ceiling make the space both bright and warm at the same time.

I love Jordana’s lifestyle because it shows that you can enjoy the benefits of alternative lifestyles without necessarily owning anything — not even a van! She and her fiance rent two fun off-grid structures: A straw bale cabin and a little cob cabin, each of which are about 220 square feet, in Southern Oregon.
While the couple wanted to escape the city and jump into cob-building their own home right away, they decided to take it slow and learn to live in these structures and develop “land skills” before taking the plunge — which is so wise!
Jordana (@jordana_moon_home on Instagram) explains in our Q&A with her (read it all at the end of the post!) that they are more or less “glamping” with nothing more than 12V batteries to power a couple light bulbs and charge their phones, plus no internet access and no hot water in the cabins, which is a huge shift from city life. But in the process, they are getting closer to nature and learning more about how little they can live with and still love life.

Instead of letting a messy break-up break her down, or living in her rarely-used apartment, Chrissie chose to go tiny!
She started off as a van-lifer, but the vehicle wasn’t mechanically sound, so she later opted for an awesome box truck that she has been turning into “home” for the past 3 years. It’s allowing her to save up for a family home sometime down the road.
While the pandemic has put her and her boyfriend’s Great Australian Road Trip on hold, the couple dream of spending some time away from their Brisbane day jobs soon enough and quenching their wanderlust in Chrissie’s DIY Tuck Home. This is a charming 20 x 8.5 tiny house on wheels built by Sharpe Carpentry that’s for sale in Lithia, Florida for $58,000 on Facebook Marketplace.
The exterior is a mix of sealed cedar and metal siding which creates a lovely contrast. Inside has the very-popular white shiplap siding, white subway tile, and light wooden butcher block counter tops/floors. I really love Laxmi and Alby’s story, because it’s a great lesson to the tiny house movement: Tiny Living looks different for everyone, and can manifest itself in many different ways.
The couple lived the amazing van-life for a couple of years, traveling to 15 different countries and parking in all kinds of gorgeous places. While living that small was awesome, they eventually wanted to settle down a bit and found a tiny off-grid rental in the Spanish countryside. Now they teach yoga locally and live the little life with roots.
Renting a small space in nature means they don’t need high-paying jobs and they can live minimalist lives while still calling just one place home. We got to do a Q&A with the couple which you can find after the pictures of their off-grid home and a couple of their former van.
