In this post I’m showing you a one of a kind 765 sq. ft. cottage near the beach for sale that was built using plans from The Small House Catalog.

It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and sits on a 7,900 sq. ft. lot on the coast of Washington.

One of the bedrooms is downstairs and the other one is upstairs with some extra loft space too.

There’s a covered front porch and a sun deck in the back that faces a small garden with blueberries, flowers, asparagus, and more.

living-large-in-tiny-apartments

In this post you’ll get to tour two tiny apartments in NYC where residents are living large in their small spaces.

The first is a couple who were able to purchase a 220 sq. ft. micro apartment for $160,000 in the city (that’s a good deal in NYC). They converted it into quite the beautiful, luxurious space (as you’ll see).

The second is a woman who rents in the city and although she doesn’t have the most luxurious apartment or furnishings she’s happy because she can easily walk to her favorite places.

Meet Judith Larose-Pelletier. She’s a massage therapist who lives tiny in a 220 sq. ft. apartment. And she even shares the space with a roommate!

You’ll get to quickly tour her little home below as she gives you insights and tips on how to make a small space work without a lot of furniture or stuff.

Judith explains how living this way allows her to have the free time and money to get to travel, work overseas when the opportunity comes, and in general keep things simple with minimal maintenance. See below.

When I think of tiny houses I also think of small houses like this beautiful and open summer house I’m showing you here.

I’ll always show you both tiny and small homes so that you can find what’s truly best for you long-term (whether it’s tiny, small, or somewhere in between).

This summer house is a great example of what you can do with a slightly larger amount of space. It’s a backyard retreat used for vacation rentals by the homeowners.

If you’re into tiny house living too when vacationing you might consider staying in a micro cabin like this garden pod instead of in a motel.

Many times you can also save money doing this, as in this case. This beautiful tiny backyard cabin in Winchester is a fantastic getaway if you’re in the area.

And inside you’ll find everything you’ll need (giving you a taste of the tiny house lifestyle). There’s a kitchenette, bathroom with shower and toilet, sofa bed that converts into a bed, and a television for entertainment.

less-is-more-tiny-house-infographic-preview

I was contacted by the folks over at Custom Made about a tiny house movement infographic that they created for us which shares how less is more. And how in many ways we’re going back to square one with tiny homes.

It’s obvious that the word on simple living is growing and I believe it’s because it just makes sense. People from all sorts of backgrounds are editing their lives to make it easier for themselves to live simpler, happier lives.

The best part is that there are so many benefits you can experience when simplifying. Like more money, less waste, a healthier environment, better relationships, and an overall happier and more meaningful life.

I think this infographic represents just about all of that. It also shows us some disturbing facts about where we’ve been heading as a society. And I think you’ll agree that what we’ve been doing as a collective society doesn’t make much sense at all. But we’re changing that now, aren’t we? There is hope.

tiny-house-movement-in-spur-texas

It’s encouraging to see that the small town of Spur, Texas (population 1,088) has announced that they are welcoming tiny houses as supposedly declared by their mayor, Manuel Herrera.

But let’s clear this up right here right now. We are getting somewhere. But you might be a little disappointed to learn the truth here as explored by Andrew Odom of Tiny r(E)volution below. Are tiny houses on trailers easily permitted? We’re not sure.

But it is very clear that creatively simple and safe tiny homes on foundations are welcome with open arms. We’re just not sure about the ones on wheels. Although I personally don’t see why not. But have a read for yourself below. Either way, I’m convinced this is good news for the tiny house movement. What do you think?

This luxurious tiny cabin is called the Shepherds Rest and is being used as a vacation rental alongside the Shepherds Delight which I’ve shown you here before.

It sits alongside a few other cabins in the woods with view of a lake nearby. It’s definitely a very peaceful setting and I wouldn’t mind living the simple life in this little cabin, how about you?

This luxurious tiny home has a great one level floor plan so there’s no upstairs sleeping lofts or anything like that. And it boasts a wonderful kitchen and outdoor space to hang out in.
