This is the 18′ version of the Dewdrop Tiny House by Zyl Vardos which offers about 144 sq. ft. of space inside. It’s another incredible design/build by the amazing carpenter/artist and founder of Zyl Vardos, Abel Zimmerman Zyl.
Zyl specializes in artistically designed and built tiny homes with handmade windows, doors, and curved rooflines. And with the Dewdrop, it’s no different. So I’m pleased, honored, and excited to show it to you here. Please enjoy, learn more, and re-share below. Thank you!

I think this one is more art than practical. It’s really good looking, but that couch is really, really low (a higher kitchen platform would allow a couch-heighted pull-out bed with under mattress storage) and the tub is way too tall (Stepping high increases the chances of slipping and falling, which sucks, I can tell ya). A way to use the tub as a shower would be nice too. I know I could do that myself, but at $46K, I shouldn’t have to.
It’s a beauty, but it needs a few tweaks. I love the shape, it reminds me of medieval cruck-built houses. The round window that opens is pretty clever. I like the caboose-style skylight/heat sink system, and the fact there’s no bloody loft.
With a few tweaks, it’d be fantastic. It’s good proof of concept, tho.
Agree with a lot of that. Price way high, a significant part of that I would attribute to the custom made windows. Do like the door tho, not so much the large round window in it tho. The roof is good, however that extension or whatever doesn’t really add any thing except more expense. They have step thru tubs now that are around the same size as that stock watering tank, now one of those would be well worth the cost, which is not really that much. I would opt for a Murphy bed, or a bed that lowers from the ceiling – my first choice. Or could have a fold out couch, that would work too. Yep, a few tweaks, and less expense, and I could go for it.
I don’t see a refrigerator. Is there one? Thanks.
Yes, there is an under counter refrigerator at the left hand end of the kitchen counter/bar. It’s small and white. It’s also in the video clip for you to watch and see.
How short is that kitchen sink unit? Is there a fold down table for eating/working? Love the exterior and the shape of the TH.
Love the craftsmanship; Mr. Zyl is VERY skilled with wood. Love the mollycroft (the thing on the roof that lets the light in.) And I love the half circle front steps (gorgeous!) I think this build would work well for a single male who enjoys minimalist living. For me, the cut-out well for the steps leading into the kitchen is scary because I’d get so focused on preparing dinner I’d wouldn’t watch where I was going and would probably fall into the well. The sofa is too low for me (my knees got smashed up in an accident many years ago.) The convertible sofa bed is very clever in that the bed is hidden under the elevated kitchen floor and out of the way during the day. The metal tub is not for me; I guess I’m old fashioned, but I prefer a tile shower stall. And overall, there isn’t enough storage for me. But once again, this is a beautiful piece of Zyl magic that certainly is fabulous to look at and enjoy. 🙂
A little gem.
Love the roof design.
The first photo of the kitchen feels like a church!
I don’t know what to say…! It’s a very different home, one you just have to look at scratch your head, and just try to picture yourself living in it.. And if the picture doesn’t seem blurry then I guess you can call it home…! And I say this with out malice…

Mr. Zyl. Bravo…love the tub and the hideaway bed.
Everything that this man does is mouth watering gorgeous and wonderfully executed. The best of the best. thank you for sharing!
I love this! I love that the bed is also the sofa. How clever! I love the use of space and the bathroom, what I could see. Really lovely tiny home.
Exterior is nice, it would have looked a lot better if they had mowed before pictures. Interior, way too much white. The pull out bed is cute, but sucks because it is so low, Murphy bed much better. Steps to the kitchen area? Accident waiting to happen. The tall tub sucks. And a large window in the bathroom? Really? And the price is a bad joke.
I absolutely love the dewdrop! I am a moon child so the “moon” window is perfect! Also no stairs! Love, love love it!
Love the designs, however any construction costing more than the average price of a 3,000 sq. ft. , $300K home which is $100-$124 per square foot is not sensible. Prices exceeding this are people who are in the business for the short term, take their money and leave the Tiny House movement. When you factor in the problems with zoning, condensation, and other issues they don’t tell you. You buy the unit at over twice the price and are left with the unrelated issues. The Tiny House movement needs practical people , we’ve already seen what greed can do.
If its worth anything, I have made very little building these tiny homes. Just over minimum wage most months! I do love the process… and that is why I keep doing it.
His houses are so exquisitely unique…don’t know how else to express it.
Heavenly. I think I could joyfully live here forever.
This adorable little house on wheels would be perfect for vacations or as a guest house!
Yes! Certainly so.
Abel Zyl, I LOVE your work! What an artist you are. Your homes are works of art and it seems to me that many of the details readers have commented about could or would be adjusted to a customer’s desire. I hope I am able to shop with you one day.
Is a particular line so that the outside does not reflect the spiritual, mystical atmosphere that refers to a church, really ascetic
(the inside).
An impressive lay-out. Love the kitchenette and that everything is all on one floor! Two thumbs up!
He fit a lot into an itty bitty space 🙂
Where is the refrigerator?
