Sometimes life takes us in unexpected directions, and for this family of four, that meant making some big decisions about their beautiful custom-built tiny home. They created a stunning 36-foot family-friendly tiny house with a downstairs bedroom, a netted kids’ loft, and thoughtful features designed to make daily life easier — from a dishwasher and washer/dryer combo to a deep soaking tub for the little ones.
Their story offers great insight into family tiny living, the design choices they loved most, and what they learned along the way. We interviewed Rachel about their experience living tiny, what worked well for their family, and what others might want to consider when planning a tiny lifestyle.

This tiny farm-style home, known as The Burmenbov, was originally built by Willowbee Tiny Homes in New York — a builder that appears to no longer be in business. Even so, their designs still circulate online because of how thoughtfully laid out they were, and this 30-foot tiny farmhouse on wheels is one of their most memorable builds.
It features a rare first-floor bedroom, a spacious kitchen, a cozy living area, and plenty of clever storage throughout. If you’re exploring tiny house layouts for inspiration — especially no-loft or low-loft options — this retired design is still a great example of what’s possible in a compact footprint.
