This is one couple’s fisherman’s tiny cottage in Ballard. It’s a backyard tiny home they built which was featured over at the Seattle Backyard Cottage blog. I love backyard tiny homes like this because they’re a wonderful way to (legally) get more small and tiny houses built.
This idea reminds me of the article we did on the city who is encouraging homeowners to build backyard tiny homes. It’s such a great idea, isn’t it? Anyway, take a look at this beautiful little cottage below and let us know what you think about it in the comments. You can also read the interview with the couple who built it over at Seattle Backyard Cottage’s original article on it.

This is Matt and Lisa’s mind-blowing tiny home on wheels. It features a jet black exterior finish which compliments the modern design. Their tiny house also has an abundance of large windows including skylights along the entire roof. You can tell right away that this is a very special and one-of-a-kind tiny home. One of the most unique features about it is the double shower in the bathroom. Yes, this tiny house has two showers in the same bathroom. As it turns out, Matt is a professional bathroom remodeler/builder.
Another unique feature of this tiny house is the extra ceiling height which allows you to stand up before laying down in bed in your loft. I love this! So if you sometimes feel claustrophobic I think it might be different in this loft, what do you think? Currently, the top comment on the Living Big In A Tiny House YouTube video tour for this home reads, “This is probably the most beautiful tiny house ever.” What do you think, is it true?

This is the Pioneer Tiny House by Tiny Heirloom. It’s a tiny house on wheels with a main floor bedroom, a feature that’s popular for people who want to avoid ladders and staircases, especially during the middle of the night.
So this tiny house is actually available for sale, you can learn more about it and check on the availability below. It’s priced at $74,995 but according to the for sale listing, it would normally cost $128,500 to have custom-built this. So if you consider that, I suppose it’s a pretty nice discount.

This is the story of how backyard tiny houses are helping to solve California’s housing problem, specifically in Clovis city where city planners have made it easier for homeowners to build a backyard tiny cottage on their current lot. Here’s how it works…
They are giving homeowners three house plans to choose from (for free). The designs are 400-square-feet or less and are only available to homeowners in the area who have a lot with access to an alleyway, which is common in Old Town Clovis. There are other perks and incentives, too. But what’s the catch? This is having an overall very positive impact on the community so it’s a win/win for the city and the homeowners. Do you think other townships should take notice of this strategy?

This is a tiny fisherman cottage in Hvide Sande which is a little town on the west coast of Jutland, Denmark. It’s the country’s fifth largest fishing port, according to Small House Bliss.
The neighborhood seems to be filled with other structures like this. Most of them are just small warehouses that are used to store fishing gear but many of them are not even being used anymore, so some people have decided to turn them into modern tiny homes inspired by the classic old fishing sheds.2 Pretty interesting, right?

These are two tiny houses on wheels joined together to make one (larger) tiny house! Well, technically, they’re semi-permanently attached. The design allows for detachment, but it looks permanent, doesn’t it?
This is pretty cool because I’ve never really seen it done before, although I would probably prefer to keep the units separate but adjoined by a deck instead, kind of like this one (also built by Molecule Tiny Homes). How about you? What do you think of this design idea?
