When Bill Southworth of Hybrid Propulsion began traveling with his Rottweiler he was unhappy with where he had to end up staying. That’s why he ended up creating the 80 sq. ft. transforming cargo trailer stealth tiny house I’m showing you right now.

His options before designing and building this unique little cabin on wheels was to stay at motels that were rather unpleasant or high end dog-friendly hotels that were way too expensive. After looking at most of the travel trailer options out there, he was also unhappy with how large, ugly, inefficient, and awfully constructed they were.

Inspired by Graham Hill’s transforming apartment in NYC, he set his mind on creating a way to build his own hotel on wheels. And that’s how this beautiful 16′ Haulmark cargo trailer turned modern micro cabin on wheels was born.

Guest Post 2013 6 x 12 Cargo Trailer Camper/bug out/suite build – By B. Winger

At first, we wanted a vintage canned ham trailer, but most needed too much rebuilding, then we thought about building a teardrop, but after seeing cargo trailer conversions we were sold!

We started out with a 6X 12’ cargo trailer that we bought for $1200, brought it home took out the thin plywood it had on the interior, and started from there.

Our budget was $2000, and since $1200 was used for the purchase of the cargo trailer we had $800 leftover for the actual camper build and thought we wouldn’t be able to get much accomplished, but to our surprise, we were able to do it all, as we wanted… By the way, the tags are permanent and registration title and tags were only $15…

This is the story of an anonymous reader who turned his Toyota Echo car into a stealthy micro camper. I suppose you could even call it a tiny motor camper. Have you ever thought of converting your car into a stealthy car camper so you can easily sleep in it while traveling without being noticed??

So you could get to places and travel farther without having to pay for hotels and such every night. Or maybe even camping out of State Parks, campgrounds, and such. ⛺️ So I wanted to show you this.?

Man Turns his Toyota Car into Micro Motorcamper for Stealthy Car Camping

He turned his car into a stealthy micro camper...

Of course, it’s considerably smaller than your average tiny house so I’m not sure if you’re still with me but even if you’re not…

Isn’t it fascinating what can be done to make an economy size car a comfortable place to camp out for the night if you ever really needed to?

I hope you don’t ever have to, but if you do, or you end up just wanting to, here’s a really good way to get by like this.

Because who would guess this unassuming Toyota Echo would be able to sleep 2 people (even if a little too cozily)?

I thought you might be kind of awed by the simplicity of this car conversion so if you would please read the rest of the story and see the tour this tiny little motor camper car conversion below:

Wanted to show you this interesting cargo trailer stealth camper.

The owner/builder of it built it as a bug out vehicle as well as a cheap DIY stealth camper.

He bought a 2012 12×6 cargo trailer for a little under $3000 and he started to convert it himself.

The under carriage and chassis was coated to prevent rust. He also sealed the roof to prevent leaks.

To insulate it he had to remove the plywood panels, install the insulation, and then put it all back together. Sounds like a pretty fun project, doesn’t it?

He finished it up by adding an electrical system and water. Everything is explained further in the video tour at the bottom of this post.
