“One of the best things in life is to find out that you are perfectly happy without the things you thought you needed the most!”
Susan says that’s her favorite saying, and it couldn’t be more relevant to tiny house living! As a retiree (“who isn’t getting any younger”), Susan chose to go tiny even though she still owns her 800 square foot home (which she lived in for 50 years!) outright. Owning that land allows her to classify her tiny as an RV, and keeps her from paying a mortgage or lot rent. She uses a room in the “big” house for her sewing and her treadmill, and for guests when family comes to town. Otherwise, she enjoys the minimalism of her 180 square foot abode with her adorable dog, Moxie.
She was kind enough to reach out to us and answer some questions about her tiny life — be sure to read the Q&A after touring her lovely home!
Meet April & Jason and their twin girls, Adalyn & Brooklyn, who live in California with their dog Jackson in an absolutely stunning renovated 5th wheel RV!
The couple DIY-ed the entire renovation and took the camper from drab and dreary to light and airy, resulting in a place anyone would like to call home. We interviewed April (@twinning_in_our_5thwheel on Instagram) about their tiny life, so after scrolling through all the pictures be sure to read the Q&A about life in an RV with kiddos!
Just about 6 months ago Clay and Bridgette sold their 1600 sq ft house and downsized into a 230 sq ft school bus! They’re now living debt-free in San Diego, California with their dog, Piper, and cat, Shadow.
Both Clay and Bridgette (@ourdaggonebus on Instagram) are Active Duty Navy and found they weren’t using most of the space in their larger home. While they weren’t ready to commit to a tiny van, a bus allowed them to downsize and still feel comfortable in their space. They were kind enough to answer some questions about bus life, which you can find at the end of the post!
Make sure you watch their Instagram story tour as well to see all the great storage this bus conversion has. Enjoy!
This is an interview with a Tiny House Nation couple: Tim and Shannon and their Minim Tiny House in Upstate New York. They were in the first season of Tiny House Nation (Episode 3).
Now they’ve lived in their tiny home for over four years, and they share some of their experiences with us in the interview below, including some of their regrets when it comes to their tiny house. I think you’ll really get a lot out of it. Enjoy!
This is the story of Riley Slayden and Cece Monroe of LivingTiny.co.
When they wanted a way to own a house without debt, they decided they wanted to go tiny. And they did it by buying a 1982 shuttle bus and converting it into their own rolling tiny home! Please enjoy our exclusive interview with them to learn more. Thanks!
I included Jenna’s video tour of the house below the pictures, and I also got in touch with Jadon and Katie myself and asked them some questions about their tiny life and adorable tiny home.
Their house is completely custom, built by Canadian tiny house builder, Mint Tiny Homes. It has one of the most amazing bathroom/mudrooms I’ve ever seen in a tiny, and it includes a back-wall staircase which is one of the best ways to include stairs in a THOW in my opinion.
So tune out the world for a few minutes and enjoy the pictures, video tour and interview below!
This is Michelle’s Pawsitively Tiny House near Columbus, Ohio. She just sent us some new pictures in response to some reader requests.
Michelle went tiny after spending a year living in a boat in New York City! Her small space allows her to spend time with family and do what she loves — rescuing and caring for animals. Read our interview with her below the pictures!
This is Michael and Michelle’s Down to Earth Getaway, an Off-Grid Tiny House in Hawaii!
The couple currently lives in their sustainable tiny that runs off solar power, a rainwater catchment system, a composting toilet and goats, but they are also branching out and renting their off-grid space for vacations. Cool!
My husband Michael and I are living in a 240 sq ft tiny house on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii. We are college students finishing up our senior year of college. My husband built the tiny house just before we got married last summer. We would love to tell our story though your website and talk about our up and coming tiny house business on the Big Island of Hawaii. We’ve been living in the house for just over 6 months now. We have learned a lot from trial and error but feel that we have a lot to share. Oh also we live with a heard of about 20 goats. Seriously, we have a lot to share.
Scroll below for pictures, videos and our interview with the couple.
This is Sean & Angie Johnson’s Tiny House: The Casa Paspin.
The couple spent 8 months building the self-designed creation and just moved in this January. They are already loving their tiny life and are saving 60% of their income by not renting anymore. Good for them! Read our interview with them below the photo tour.
