This 160 sq. ft. tiny house is a guest post by Joseph Clark – share yours!

My name is Joseph Clark, and I own a small company called Shibui Woodworking in the Portland Oregon area. I’ve recently been enamored with the idea of tiny homes, and so I built one myself.

I just finished up the exterior, and I’m looking to sell it to someone who either wants to finish the interior themselves, or commission me to finish it to their exact needs and specifications. The asking price for the tiny house shell is $27,700.

Price reflects current condition, exterior finished only. If you would like to finish the interior yourself, I can provide advice and guidance. Or I’d be happy to custom finish the interior to reflect your desired use and personal taste. This solid little structure has endless possibilities; guest house, office, art studio, or permanent abode.

Here’s a guest post by Valerie Fredericks on a 160 sq. ft. shipping container home for sale.

This  20′ x 8′ newly built tiny home is an eco-friendly reuse of a shipping container, so you can feel good about helping to conserve our planets’ resources. It is easily adaptable for on or off-grid living, as well as energy-efficient and cost saving with its well insulated interior walls.

The sturdy roll-up lockable door is installed over the 6 ft. slider entryway and is designed with extra security in mind. It keeps your property secure when closed, while when open it allows sunlight in through the dual-paned glass doors.

This shipping container tiny home comes with a small kitchenette (cold water sink and base cabinet) and conventional toilet.

At Andrews University students built this 153 square foot tiny house on wheels.

They call it the Bay View Tiny House. It’s built on a 18’ x 8’-6” trailer. And it has a 6’ x 8’ loft and an additional 4’ x 8’ loft.

Carey Carscallen, Dean of Architecture, Art & Design tells us about the Bay View Tiny House.

It is made of standard 2×4 stud construction, all cedar siding, and plywood paneling on the interior. It is insulated with spray foam insulation, R15 in the walls and R30 in the ceiling.

All cabinetry is custom built by our students. It has a 2 burner electric cooktop, provisions for electric heat, propane hot water, regular flush toilet, standard 32″ x 32” fiberglass shower, and pedestal sink in the bathroom. Black and grey water sewers can be separated. Windows are from Pella. The roof is a membrane, professionally installed.

This was a 2 semester class in our School of Architecture. The purpose of the class was to give our students the opportunity to learn hands-on design-build skills.

We are located in Michigan, so we chose to do a Tiny House – two in fact – that we could build in our warehouse and not be affected by the long cold winter.

As you can see, the students took this opportunity to demonstrate their design skills, and learned a lot about construction in the process. It is our plan to sell the Tiny House and repeat the process next school year.

This 1969 Airstream is a guest cabin conversion that was renovated by the current owner.

Right now it’s in Austin, Texas. The current owner was using it on his property as a rental.

Unfortunately, the city determined that it is not allowable to be used as a rental on the current property, so that’s why it’s for sale right now.

The asking price was $22,000 USD. Last year alone, according to the Craigslist ad (expired), he was able to earn more than $25,000 in rental income from it. And so far this year, he’s already up to $8,000 in rental income. It’s too bad the city is forcing him to stop, isn’t it?

But it can be a great opportunity for someone to buy it who has the money. It seems like it’s ready to move into and use just like you would a custom built tiny house. For around $22k, that seems like a pretty fair deal to me! (Update: sold!)

I had to show you this tiny and luxurious backyard office that’s for sale by Gary Wagoner who shared his 8×12 ROOST tiny house design with us recently.

He’s selling this backyard office to raise money to buy a trailer to build out his latest ROOST design. With an asking price of only $1,700 I think this is a great deal if you’re in the Kettering, Ohio area.

It can easily be used as a tiny guest cabin, hobby room, music room, man cave, a tiny writing cabin, or we can just keep calling it an office. 😀
