Solar tiny house with blue door and solar panels in Los Angeles.

Sofia lives in her professionally built tiny house on wheels. But it turns out it wasn’t the first tiny house she tried to get—she had one started by a now-bankrupt business. Still, she didn’t let that get her down, and she found a new builder and has been in her home for just over a year.

She pays $600/month to rent the land she is on and has a solar system to keep her power going. Sofia has several seating options inside the house, including her couch, bar-height eating area, and cozy loft bedroom. Just wait until you see the gorgeous tiles she chose!

Compact modern tiny house with sleek brown exterior and multiple windows, built on a trailer for mob.

This Charme model by Minimaliste was displayed this weekend at the Tiny Home Show in Ottawa! The 360 square foot home has three bedrooms — two lofts and one first-floor bedroom, private from the rest of the house.

The interior is a creamy white, with dark wood accents that make it feel modern yet inviting. The galley kitchen has all the necessary appliances (even a drawer dishwasher!), and there’s enough space in the living room for a proper couch. What I love most about this design is how much storage it includes! What do you like most about this home?

Affordable tiny house with a man standing outside, showcasing small space living.

You might remember the tiny house community that Canadian millionaire Marcel LeBrun was building in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Well, he just placed house #96, meaning they’ve built a house every week since the project started two years ago! Impressive.

While there is still plenty to do, like landscaping and building some of the community structures, it’s a great start to helping the unhoused community in his area. He has been getting requests from folks across the globe on how they can replicate this kind of village! What do you think?

Asheville city skyline with mountains in the background, showcasing small space living.

The least expensive way to go tiny is still building your own home — but if you’ve never used power tools, or have limited experience, the idea of creating an entire house is daunting! Tiny Home Builders offers frequent DIY workshops, and their next one is June 1 and 2 in Asheville, TN.

The two-day program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and you’ll get experience using tools. The cost is $399.00, and you’ll need to factor in your own lodging for Saturday night.

Family enjoying time in a tiny house with a child and a pet cat.

Jono is a professional builder, but he said that building his tiny house for his wife Eva and their son was more complicated than traditional building! Even if it was a challenge, the result of his DIY project looks professional and works perfectly for this family of three.

Their house design is super cool, with a spacious wet bathroom, a loft bedroom with a specially designed crib attachment, and a hang-out loft. The U-shaped kitchen is particularly impressive, as it fits full-sized appliances and even a drawer dishwasher. Their living space extends outdoors on their large porch with a special covered corner. What do you love about this?

Converted bus used as a recording studio for mobile music production.

Dolly is a *very* pink bus conversion owned by Destiny, an amazing musician who used to be a teacher but got burnt out after teaching during 2020 and beyond. The bus came to her painted pink, but she did the conversion — including buying $2,000 worth of tools — all by herself.

Her goal with the space was to create a mobile recording studio so she could produce music while on the road. She accomplished that and so much more! Just wait until you see her walk-in closet, full bathroom, and retro-style kitchen.
