Brandon loves adventure sports and was a carpenter by trade. Van life gave him the chance to explore the rest of the country before he officially settles down. While he misses the space his apartment had—especially for all his sporting equipment—he believes the trade-off of spending so much time outdoors and exploring new places is worth it.
Even with his experience building, Brandon still thinks he spent more time on YouTube than he did building the van! It was a learning curve, but he’s better for it. And he found a clever way to include a shower. Let us know what you think in the comments.

This 322-square-foot cabin sits at the edge of a 1500-acre nature preserve in Iceland, offering an extraordinary example of how tiny living can connect you with untouched wilderness. The cabin demonstrates that small-space living doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort—despite its remote location, this home features full plumbing, a modern kitchen with dishwasher, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Located in the mountains of west Iceland near Kolsstaðir, the cabin is just 15 minutes from the nearest village and about 20 minutes from natural hot springs. It’s a masterclass in balancing isolation with accessibility.

This is a 160-square-foot container home in Blue Ridge, Georgia that’s perfectly situated among the trees. One of the coolest features of the cabin is a giant rooftop deck that extends out from the edges of the container to act as a roof for the lower wrap-around deck. It’s down there that you’ll find a hot tub and rocking chairs with a view.
Inside the container, there’s a studio-style set-up with a queen-sized bed in the middle. A kitchenette on the left has a two-burner cooktop, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. To the right of the bed, there’s a bathroom with a residential toilet and shower stall. What do you think of this shipping container cabin?

Mati and Luli moved to New Zealand about seven years ago, where a stay in a cozy treehouse unexpectedly shifted their entire outlook on space, simplicity, and what it means to live well. Realizing they needed far less than they ever imagined, they were inspired to build their own tiny house from the trailer up—using mostly reclaimed materials—and spending just around $18,000 USD to bring it to life.
We had the pleasure of interviewing the couple, and below you’ll find their full story, a tour of their beautiful tiny home, and a look at the school bus they later converted into a charming small apartment. Enjoy!

Marie discovered the world of tiny homes through YouTube — and that single spark changed everything. What began as simple curiosity turned into a full DIY build that challenged her, taught her new skills, and ultimately transformed her life. With determination, trial and error, and a whole lot of heart, she created a beautiful tiny home perfectly tailored to her needs.
The experience was so empowering that she pursued carpentry professionally. Today, she’s a carpentry apprentice and teaches other women the craft at WomeNZShed — a full-circle success story born from one bold decision to build her own space.

Chay and his brother Colby set out to build a truck camper they could actually afford — and they gave themselves three non-negotiables: it had to cost under $1K, it had to sleep both of them in bunks, and it needed to lift completely off the truck so the vehicle could still be used normally.
Ten days, plenty of grit, and some creative problem-solving later, they pulled it off. Their dad jumped in on the final day to help with drywall and finishing touches, and together they managed to meet their deadline and stay under budget. The transformation is impressive — and you can watch the full build below.
