Dutch artist studio Atelier Van Lieshout created this industrial steel shelter from a welded garbage container as an artistic statement. The windowless structure features heavy steel doors with industrial hinges, welded locks, and an interior with benches, toilet, shelf, and combined fireplace/oven/stove. The rusted exterior deliberately blends with post-industrial environments.

Lessons from Industrial Shelter Art
- Repurposed Materials Create Shelter: Containers and industrial objects can become habitable structures
- Welding Enables Custom Construction: Steel fabrication allows building without conventional framing
- Art Challenges Housing Norms: Provocative designs question assumptions about dwelling requirements
- Minimal Interiors Function: Basic amenities (seating, heat, storage) create viable shelter
- Security Through Mass: Heavy steel construction provides inherent protection

Looks kinda like a survival shelter as envisioned by the set decorators and props department from ‘Mad Max’.
It looks like it is more shelter than house.
Yeah, I could do this one, too.
Definately an “Art” Statement. Too bad Rick and the Gang don’t have one of these when the ‘herds’ come at them! LOL
Just looking at it depresses me.
