Rent This Tiny House on the River 5

Last week we shared Tiny House Finder with you, but today we want to share Try It Tiny, a new website specially designed for those wanting to rent a tiny house or land to put one on!

The site allows “Hosts” to sign up and share the tiny house they have for rent, or land they are willing to share with a tiny home. “Guests” can then rent the home or land after creating an account.

Unlike most Airbnb tiny houses for rent, those on Try It Tiny can be long-term rentals (although you only rent for 90 days at a time, and renew every 3 months).

This is a resource I think we’ve all been waiting for! Check out one of the homes for rent below.

Rum Runner 001 – 12

This is the Rum Runner custom tiny teardrop trailer by The Trailer Doc.

We have teamed up with an Architect and Master Woodworker to start developing custom “tiniest homes” and tiny homes here in beautiful sunny Ocala, Fl.

This is the Rum Runner ser# 001 Prototype. We already have plans drawn for an 8.5w x 24 x 10h home with a loft and slide-outs. We have over a decade of building Micro-Homes in Bermuda where every square inch of space is maximized on the island, and you can see the quality craftsmanship in the Rum Runner Teardrop beginnings of many more to come along with the Custom Tiny Homes.

How cool is this! I love the round door. More details on the last page.

Well this is good news for the homeless in Portland, Oregon! The government has approved a new pilot program called “A Place For You” that will allow willing participants to housing homeless people in tiny modular units paid for by the government and charitable donations.

The Portland Press Herald reported:

Under the pilot program taking effect this summer, the homeowners will take over the heated, fully plumbed tiny houses in five years and can use them for rental income…Residents just passed a $260 million housing bond, but it will be two years before those units are ready, said Mary Li, director of Multnomah County’s new Idea Lab, which developed the concept.

The best part? About 200 homeowners have already signed up to get more information about the project because they are eager to help the homeless in a tangible way. Read the rest of the story here.

1000 DIY Wooden Teardrop Trailer 2JPG

This is Wayne’s Awesome $1000 DIY Wooden Teardrop Trailer that he built in Wisconsin.

Wayne owned an old aluminum trailer he had previously built and decided to transform it into a portable bedroom that he can pull with his Corvette. Now that’s fun! It runs off solar panels. Because he had a lot of the materials on hand already, Wayne only spent about $1,000 on the whole project. Practical and inexpensive — perfect!
