After finishing grad school, Sam decided that a tiny house would be a perfect fit for her lifestyle. She wanted to remain in Vancouver, BC to be near work, family and friends; but the cost of living in the city was incredibly high.

She also wanted to be able to work a not-for-profit job without worrying whether she’d have enough money for rent each month. Last but not least, tiny houses were a housing solution that fit well with her environmental sustainability values.

This is Michelle “MJ” Boyle. She’s a mother of two who recently built her own tiny home on wheels to retire in (sort of). Michelle plans on building more tiny homes so that she can rent them out for income.

Her THOW has what she calls a “modern nostalgia” style. In fact, Michelle spent two years collecting and refurbishing appliances from the mid 1940’s and early 1950’s for her kitchen. How awesome is that?

Anyway, I’m able to put together this post and share it with you thanks to the incredible Dylan Magaster on YouTube so be sure to subscribe to his videos (they’re amazing)!

She built her tiny house on wheels for about $10,000 in only 10 months and she did it without the help of a builder.

Her tiny home has a solar panel, rain gutters for water collection, and is built right onto an 8×16 trailer so she can legally tow it and move it if she wanted to. It has a 12V LED porch light on the covered front porch. When you go inside you’ll see she has a kitchen, bathroom, living area, closet, and upstairs sleeping loft. She built her tiny house on a 8×16 trailer. It has a custom built 2′ wide screen door she created with a decorative sun on it (see below). She also made her own door mat from a rope. And she even harvests her own spring water from a nearby spring whose water originates underground.

Young lady’s $10k tiny house! She built it herself in 10 months time without the help of a builder.
