A while back I introduced some of you to Collin and Joanna, a young married couple who have been building their own Tumbleweed tiny house.

I’ve been visiting them on their blog (lots of cool pictures) since the very beginning so it’s great to see the finished product.

Yes, they are now currently living in it! Last month, they had their first guest sleep over.

They used the Fencl building plans ($859) to construct the house on a dual axle trailer.

It’s 130 square feet with an upstairs sleeping loft.

The plans give you enough room to fit…

  • Two lounge chairs
  • Fireplace
  • Pull out couch
  • Full sized shower
  • Kitchen

Their kitchen, by the way, is awesome. Here’s a preview of it in this screenshot from the video tour:

Update 8/30/2011: Video interview with 16-year-old tiny house builder, Austin Hay

On July 21, 2011, Austin Hay was featured in the Press Democrat.

He has been building his own Fencl tiny house in the backyard of his parents’ house.

He plans on using it to live in now, during college, and after college.

Austin currently resides in Santa Rosa and attends Analy High School, where he has two years left to go before he’s off to college.

He says he has no plans on sharing a dorm with roommates. 🙂

For the last year, Austin has been putting all of his time, money, and energy toward building this 130 square foot home.

Meet Collin and Joanna. On June 6th, 2010 they took a serious step by purchasing a trailer for their own tiny Tumbleweed Fencl house.

By this time they are well on their way to many of our dreams… Their very own tiny house on wheels.

They have their own (awesome) blog where they are sharing the experience on the construction of their tiny house. So make sure to add it to your favorites!

Recently they have posted up lots of pictures for us to look at and I wanted to be sure you knew about their tiny house adventure! The photos feature the foundation on their trailer and some of the framing on the house. Stop by their blog and say hello!
