Tiffany the Tiny Home Updated Owner Interview

This is one couple’s DIY Tiny House in Ecuador! James is from Ireland and built the home with his Polish partner, Monika.

The two are in living tiny in Ireland right now after spending five and a half months on their Ecuadorian home. There’s more to do when they return, but in the meantime, enjoy James’ build story and our interview with him:

It was built from mid-September 2016 to mid-February 2017. It essentially started out as a truck trailer, these types of trailers are quite common in Ecuador. Once the trailer was purchased we essentially just built a little house around it.

Neither of us had really done anything like this before, and I have never worked in a trade or anything so it was quite an undertaking for us, especially in the quite short time we had available to us. We had to get some hired help for a few weeks to speed up the process, but we did a lot of the work ourselves, including the furniture and loft.

It’s quite basic compared to some of the Tiny Houses out there, but needless to say we are very proud of it. Unfortunately we had to leave Ecuador just as it was completed (a friend is living in it at the moment) but we plan to make it back in the near future.

We use Eucalyptus wood for most of the construction, with some Pine in the roof structure to keep the weight down. Bamboo was used on the inside of the roof, and the walls are insulated with foam and covered in wooden board. It’s quite spacious inside.

Also I like to think that someone who has never built something or perhaps doesn’t have building skills per se, could look at our house and say ‘Hey I could do that!’. We built the house for $6500.

This is Jadon and Katie’s Good and Tiny House that I first saw featured on Jenna’s Tiny House Giant Journey.

I included Jenna’s video tour of the house below the pictures, and I also got in touch with Jadon and Katie myself and asked them some questions about their tiny life and adorable tiny home.

Their house is completely custom, built by Canadian tiny house builder, Mint Tiny Homes. It has one of the most amazing bathroom/mudrooms I’ve ever seen in a tiny, and it includes a back-wall staircase which is one of the best ways to include stairs in a THOW in my opinion.

This is Troy & Krista’s 25 ft. Castle Peak Tiny Home in Washington.

It’s a fully-customized THOW built for them by Tiny Mountain Homes, and they’ve been living inside for 8 months, loving their tiny life!

We are thrilled with the design, and functionality of this model. Every detail of the interior and exterior my wife and I specifically picked out.

Troy and Krista sent us pictures of their lived-in home, and shared their story in a Q&A at the end of the post: You don’t want to miss it. I really love that they prove living in an RV park can be luxurious — just wait until you see their quaint little lot!

This is the Tootling Tranquility Tiny House, a Tumbleweed Elm that Katrina moved into five years after a major life interruption: Being diagnosed with MS in 2011:

Now years later, divorced, my house sold, major debts paid off, I started working with Tumbleweed Tiny House Company, on the way I was going to redesign life further and help others. September 2016, I enrolled The Institute of Integrated Nutrition which is an online certification program to become a health coach. I want to use all my experiences in life, that have been life changers for me, to help others.

My new journey is to be a roaming health coach. I will be providing support, how to foodie videos, recipes, online programs via Skype, and travel blogs to hopefully inspire and provide strength, encouragement to others to take back their power and step outside their own comfort zone to obtain AMAZING for themselves.
