If you’ve been stuck on the how to find land for your tiny house issue, I think this how to find land for camping resource might be of help someday.

It’s sort of like an Airbnb but it’s dedicated to help connect land owners with people who want to find a place to camp. And of course we thought, “hey, this might work for tiny house owners too, right?”

Maybe it will! So I wanted to let you know about it. The website is called Hipcamp. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments. Do you think this could be a promising resource to connect tiny home owners with appropriate lots?

I’m excited to share these hanging tents with you because if you like treehouses and camping you’ll probably love this. Yes, camping in the trees would be awesome, but how? Check this out… it’s a tree tent called the RooMoon made by the Hanging Tent Company. It takes tent camping to the next level (literally). Handcrafted and designed by graduate student, Rufus Martin in Dorset, England. Since he presented this at Byrson School as a final project it has been his full-time business since. So how is this contraption made?

The outside material is a durable canvas that can stand any weather. Flooring is made of lightweight pine and very portable just like the entire tent itself. Each board attaches together making it easy to roll up and is used as a carrying case for the frame and accessories. The frame is made of steel rods that are strong and weatherproof. Collapses down in to a car-sized package making transporting very easy for camping and festivals. The designer says, “the tent is capable of lifting over 1 ton with ease. The user needs only to run the lightweight pulley chain through their hands to be lifted into the canopies.”

I ran into this video on teardrop camping put together by a couple who really seem to enjoy traveling with their DIY micro camper.

If you’ve ever wanted to own an RV or miss it but don’t miss the cost of doing it you might want to consider teardrop trailers.

They’re small and lightweight, pretty inexpensive to buy and fairly easy to build one yourself.

Ever since I learned about them I thought they’re such a great way to travel and enjoy life without hurting the wallet too bad.

For lots of reasons, too. Not only are they cheap to buy or build, but they’re easy to tow. Some people even tow their teardrops with 4-cylinder vehicles so you don’t even need a truck to have one.

Could this be the yurt alternative that we have been looking for? Were we even looking for a yurt alternative? Do you want to build a tiny house with just a screw driver? If you’ve ever wanted a plastic yurt this might be the answer for you.

Teal Panels from Teal International Corporation may not be the prettiest things to look at but they are simple and easy to construct. But what about the cost? Each panel costs around $200 so it really depends on how large you want your structure. For those of us looking to go tiny, it could be completely cost effective.

I had the opportunity to speak with Alex from right here at Tiny House Talk the other day. We had a great conversation and he asked a lot of great questions. Some of the things he asked got me thinking about where this all started and just exactly how we got to a point in our lives where building and living in a tiny house seemed like the right decision.

Matt and I have been together a long time – nearly 18 years. We met in college and we were 19 and 20 when we started dating. It’s funny because a lot of people want to know how the two of us can live and work together but we just don’t think about it like that. We like spending time with each other so it just comes naturally. We have always had very complimentary dreams. Those dreams didn’t always include a tiny house; especially since we didn’t even know what a tiny house was back then, but they always included a desire to live in a more extraordinary way.

When I think back on it, I realize that the tiny house idea was really not that far from some of our earlier yearnings for adventure. Maybe it is possible that the concept was always in our DNA but until we discovered the tiny house movement we just didn’t realize it.
