There’s something deeply satisfying about a couple who spent a year living in a van, then used everything they learned about minimalism and intentional design to build their own cabin from the ground up. That’s exactly what Michal and Monika did when they created Little Earth — a compact A-frame cabin sitting on 25 acres of family land near Poland’s Kampinos National Park.
The two of them are a yoga instructor and a book author who traveled across southern Europe in a vintage van during the pandemic. When they returned to Poland, they knew exactly what kind of home they wanted to build: something small, beautiful, and stripped down to only the essentials. They chose the A-Frame Bunkhouse Plus plans from Den Outdoors and got to work.

The beautiful home below was built at first for a small family, but was later purchased by Patrick and Lenka, who serendipitously came across it while Patrick was purchasing some books from the original owners. Because of the family-style build, Patrick and Lenka find that the home is bigger than they need — even at only 367 square feet!
The L-shaped kitchen has a generous amount of counter space, as well as an oven and a larger apartment-sized refrigerator. On the other hand, the bathroom is quite compact, but Lenka thinks that’s perfect. The living room has a large couch, some extra stools and a hanging chair, so they can welcome friends for game night. Enjoy a tour of their home below!

Miguel, also known as “Sir Cobalot,” is a cob-building master who has created hundreds of earthen structures on his own and with others. He specializes in tiny structures because anything under 120 square feet doesn’t have to be permitted in California, where he lives.
The video below looks at his home, the Hobbit Cobin, as well as a few other earthen structures he’s made. The “cobin” is made of three separate tiny buildings — a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. He has an extra-creative heating system for the bedroom, where the stove is actually on the outside and radiates heat indoors.

Abby’s love for an adventurous lifestyle led her to convert her own van! She fit a bike, paddleboard, camping gear, and tools under her bed, so she can enjoy the outdoors. Her conversion was a DIY build, that cost her $37,000. She used plenty of reclaimed materials to keep costs down, but the van’s aesthetic isn’t compromised by her frugality!
She has a fixed queen-sized bed in the back of her van, and a workspace in the front where she does her full-time marketing work. Her kitchen has a sink made from an industrial coffee pot, and a two-burner propane cooktop. Enjoy her energy and excitement for life in the video below.
