Have you ever dreamed of taking a road trip across the United States? Meet Steven and Lindsey, these two young travelers did just that.

After living in Florida for one year they decided to head home, to Oregon, but not without a few detours along the way.

They purchased a 1984 Blue Bird Bus and converted it into their home on wheels.

After completely transforming the interior of the bus using reclaimed materials they were ready to hit the open road.

Have a look below at their adventure and the transformation of this 1984 Blue Bird bus.

Steven and Lindsey have a great piece of history with that Blue Bird Bus!! Too…for the age of that bus, it was cleeeeeaaaan, windows and all. I love the flooring choice as well, it’s beautiful. Good job guys!!

Oh BTW…what did you do with all those seats?

Fun conversion. The new floor is amazing. I also want to know what happened to the seats? I know it’s a personal decision, but I’d have recovered a pair to match the decor and used as seating at your little table. Glad you didn’t take the easiest, fastest way from FL to OR. In the words of the Grateful Dead “what a long strange trip it’s been…..” That’s how you make memories!

      Hi Janet!

Yes, I too bad the same decorating idea in line with those bus seats…Brilliant Minds Think Alike, I guess!! Lol. I too would have kept 4-6 seats and I would have had those seats re-upholstered in a coordinating color with the decor. The seats (as well as the bus) seemed to be in excellent condition too.

In any event, they did great job in bringing new life to the Blue Bird Bus!

Whenever I see a post about a couple that coverts a bus or builds a tiny house to travel around the states, I am always curious to know what they do for a living that allows them to travel around. I wouldn’t mind a post on jobs 🙂

That’s a good idea Eva. Ideas on how to earn a living untraditionally using the Internet would be ideal, right? Most of these people seem to live simply as possible and save up before doing it. Some even get rid of their apartments/homes too to help with costs. Everyone does it a little different. But thanks for your suggestion on jobs/etc.

We have been making “Fresh Goats Milk” Premium Bath Bars. We do not sell them commercially but we do sell them to people we personally meet. Needless to say, we have a following of people who continue to purchase this product, especially some who do so because of sensitive skin issues. It is good to find a product or service that most people will use if provided a quality product.

I think it is a great bus, inside and out, it’s a credit to them.

Well, wow! Great job and it wasn’t too overdone so seems more possible. I am picking up my 26′ ’97 BB Diesel. It is so Mork and Mindy! 🙂 I am not quite sure how to decorate or get started but taking the plunge! I found 245watt solar w/o batts. I think that and a generator and I should be good to go. Taking the seats out is the deal. I would like to keep some of them as sitting area but where to store them ya know? It will just be me and my two old kittehs. I am more scared for them that they will be ok with the transition. Any experience with preferred energy source? I am hoping there may be enough room for a cat walk for the little guys and thought of a little garden on top (? still thinking on that, but sounds good doesn’t it). Great job guys and advise is appreciated.
