A wonderful tiny house with, yes, some marvelous custom ideas that make the entire experience more comfortable. I loved the video; it was very expansive over the entire unit. Wish I was more flexible to do the ladder thing because that does give you way more useable space. It’s a beautifully finished unit and I can bet it would make a fun lifestyle 🙂

Nice design if you’re young, but not if you’re old or injured.

I’ve seen this house several times over the last couple of years and been interested to see how they have settled in and the improvements they have made. This place has gone from being a box to being a home. Nice job guys 😀

I have always loved this house, and I could not point out any one part I liked best. The whole house is a masterfully designed space! Beautiful, bright, cozy, organized, practical with a touch of whimsy. Well done, guys! I love it! The kitchen and bath are particularly well designed and aesthetically appealing. Wow!

A back door in the kitchen would have been practical. This would make it easier to come into the house and put groceries down on the kitchen counter top.

For greater counter space, place a cutting board over the kitchen sink or stove.

Nice layout, and well put together.. Like that closet space in the loft..and how the bed is positioned..This is one of the better ones presented..Would chang a thing..

I didn’t like the layout of the loft, because you’d have to climb over the bed to get to the closet every day. Placing the closet near the entry of the loft would have been more practical.

Open and vertical storage seem to add clutter. For spaciousness, store everything away in pull-out baskets beneath furniture.

With pull-out baskets beneath furniture, closets, shelving and cupboards may not be needed. To sort through a basket, place it on top of the furniture. This concept creates more space.

Hi. di, Remember there was another closet on the other side of the bed. That could be for everyday use. The other closet (across the bed further away) could be used for things to store stuff and season clothing. that I could live with being a single person. but if you are a couple I can understand what a inconvenience it would be..

I love the thought that went into the house. Alek dropped several nice tidbits about how he handled the tag on the trailer and the electrical and water. I love all the customization and thought that went into the entire design, in that it focused on the bodies living in there. Non-galley kitchen was super smart and creative two-person solution. There seems to be a tendency in some of these designs to cram as much storage onto the walls – ceiling to floor but this design is cleaner than that, but still has a lot of space it seems. Big enough for 3 computer monitors, one doubling as a TV…super efficient.

Anjali mentioned pianos in small homes. There is another design on this site recently that put a full keyboard under a desk. That home used a pull out bed and the table was on top of the pull out. I think the builder was a guy who used SIPs. His house was also well thought out for his personal needs. I seem to recall he did not want a sleeping loft “because he liked to drink” or something to that effect.

The largest possible windows is something I hope to incorporate when I finally design a place. I love that there was such a learning curve, but that you curbed your enthusiasm until you watched enough videos and read enough things online to do it right. Right in terms of overall beautiful design, and right in terms of meeting your personal needs. With those now developed skills, you could certainly build a studio on wheels if you wished. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing!!!

A stackable set of kitchenware and dry goods easily fit beneath a kitchen sink. Kitchen wall space may be used for an extra window.

Rather than a dining table, eat with your plate in your lap.

Work anywhere with a handheld computer. Rather than a desk, try a clipboard.

Additional shelving or furniture may not be needed in the great room. Two slim couches or benches on either side of the room may be more comfortable or accomodating for yourselves and visitors.

      Always thinking of ideas,
      Di

In any home, I prefer skylights for proper ventilation, because heat rises. With the right air-flow and dynamics, a fan may not be needed. Skylights over the bedroom and great room may be beneficial.

I like the use of the long windows. I like that the couch and mirror face the windows. These create a sense of spaciousness.

      Your photographs are excellent!

Alex has featured this house before and it’s still a charmer. Alek put an extreme amount of fore-thought into the design; watching the video and seeing his Plan Book was inspiring that SO much thought went into it.

By the way, if y’all want to keep that “Happy/Glowy” feeling about this couple, DON’T watch the video on youtube! The comments are absolutely scathing about Alek’s control over Anjali and “bet’s are on” regarding how much longer she’ll be with him. I routinely follow the youtube link so that I can rate the video and read the comments, but this time, I’m sad that I did.

I was surprised to read them as well, but she really doesn’t seem to have any comforts for herself. She may not be as neat as he would like, but she’s just as talented if not more for the amount of patience she has to live in a home that does not accommodate her needs. Life is short.

I know, di. It was sad, truthfully, to see HIM spread out across a dedicated desk with his TWO…count’em….TWO monitors while SHE had to stand…yes, folks, STAND UP in the hallway to work on her laptop. And, if HE wanted to spread out across the entire sofa area to watch TV, SHE had to disassemble her laptop and go elsewhere.

I also don’t know how long I could put up with my husband pissin’ in a jar each night and not washing his hands, then wanting a “wee cuddle” in the morning…with a jar of piss beside me. Ewwwww, to the max.

I hope and pray that she gets her tub and restrings her poor violin. NO PERSON is worth giving up your passions for! He got “his”, now she deserves “hers.”

For easy access, try drawers under the couch.

Rather than notebooks, try cloud storage online. It’s easier to edit and update documents online.

If the coats were hung directly behind the entry door, then the couch could be lengthened.

I would not have an animal in a small house. It seems cruel to confine him as well.

Occupancy permits usually require two exists in case of fire. The compost heap and grey water disposal may also be in question.

I think it is incredibly rude and ungrateful to post your opinions about their relationship, here in a place where they might see them. We do not have enough data to know what goes on in their relationship. They kindly shared their personal life with us. I personally would like to grant her the respect to think she knows what she is doing with her life, and can make choices that uphold her. In other words…stop being assholes!

I like the house but prefer no loft. Loft is good for young and healthy people. One sprained ankle or slipped disk and you have problems.

I do like the kitchen with all the built in storage. And the separate counters for fridge/sink, and stove/oven. Nicely done.

As for pet…of course you have pet. Why Not? Just take care of pet…the same issue people always have.
