I love what she is doing. It sure looks taller than is allowed. But the whole concept of doing it herself really makes it worthwhile. congratulations on a job well done.

I don’t know the actual height of the tiny home but I am guessing that it may appear taller because of the different roof line from the traditionally pitched roof.

Sitting on the jacks it is at 13′ 6″ when off the jacks it will lower an inch or two maybe.

Would like to know how high it is, in the photo it appears to be very tall, maybe to tall for transport?

    Thank you Melinda,

That is the way to overcome your fears, and yes build your own tiny home is a commitment, and takes time. But you went from I can never build a TH, and you are now doing it. Would love to see it completed. Because I too, have been doing my research, my planning and making a list of material. Now the question is should it be a tiny house or a THOWs. That is my question. Thank you for sharing.

Sitting on the jacks it is at 13′ 6″ when off the jacks it will lower an inch or two maybe. It does look taller because it sits lower. Built on a 8.6 x 20 trailer with and 8.6×8 section over the gooseneck. I will see if there is a way for me to add some additional photos for you to see the inside. Trailer is also rated for 14k. I also drew up the plans myself. I did have a contractor do the framing and had help from my dad on electrical, friends helped with roofing, flooring and some of the sideing.

Melinda lives in my home town. I was home on vacation recently and emailed her to make an appointment to see her home. She graciously gave us a tour of her tiny house. My kids were worried about my desire to live in a THOW, but when my daughter saw the home she said, “WOW this is great. You could live here!” Thank you, Melinda! I can’t wait to get started building my own home.
