Beautiful inside, and looks comfortable. I love the wood inside, inserting weathered pieces somewhat randomly kind of forces you to pay attention to it.
I’m not sure why it’s on stilts, there’s clearly no flooding in the area and they are not high enough to see over the trees. Does it help with cooling in the summer? Does it get 6 feet of snow in winter?

Hey Alex! 😀 Good question, not sure, maybe they just wanted a “treehouse” without actually having to depend on live trees to build on?

Reasons for cabin on stilts (A pier foundation, sometimes called a post-and-beam or pier-and-beam foundation) is…

-View, like a tree house it can give an elevated view you could not otherwise get…
Ground level, trunks of the trees may be considered not as good as a view as the upper branches and elevation can also help deal with the tendency to be too shadowed by the trees and not get enough light…

-Safety, elevated structure provides additional buffer between the structure and any wild life…
Plus, the elevation can help reduce the amount of bugs you may have to deal with…

-Eliminates the high cost and need to level the ground and establish a large foundation…
Plus, the elimination of the need of the foundation reduces the environmental impact of the structure…

-Flooding is sometimes a factor but heavy rain can still be a issue if the grade of the land would push the water to the structure, such as being on the lower part of a hillside, etc. and cause erosion and other long term issues… Along, with making it easier to keep clean as an elevated structure provides some separation from the dirt, mud, etc.

It’s pretty but I would prefer more windows and light inside. Windows would also break up the all interior wood look.
