Whimsical Treehouse Cabin at Swallowtail

This post contains affiliate links.

Nestled 30 feet up in a lush eucalyptus tree is this whimsical treehouse cabin. Located on the property of Swallowtail Studios in Petaluma, CA.

As you climb three flights of stairs up to the treehouse cabin you start to become one with nature. Once you reach the deck you can take in the amazing scenery of the Arabian horse farm, the forest, and the rolling hills. French doors open up to a magical bedroom studio with a cozy bed to rejuvenate in. I love the stained glass windows and all the artistic decor. Please enjoy and re-share below. Thank you!

Very Swiss Family Robinson. Not a full time residence, for sure…there’s no way I’m hucking groceries up those stairs; but it looks like a ton o’ fun as a playhouse or guest house! Cozy.

Could have goods lift for getting the groceries into the house (block & tackle with rope/cable to cage)

Looks lovely and very safe living two stories up. Being single p, safety is a high priority for me. Inside it is very lovely and I love the layout of the floor plan. Very nice!

I have a question that be sound dumb… What happens when the tree dies or is struck by lightening?

Well, if it is a dying tree, you could probably add some supports. Or, dismantle and rebuild it in another location. If it’s lightening, I would imagine it depends on the amount of damage to the house. Same as it would if the home was on the ground.

There is lightening protection that can be added to treehouses. Although, from what I’ve read, it’s very expensive. But so would be rebuilding a burned out treehouse. This might be a case where that treehouse expert referenced above, from the Animal Planet show, would be a great resource in planning a home like this.

Really love the idea. Up here in the Sierra Nevada’s. That would be risky. It is really cozy and I love the windows, doors. A lift would work to pull groceries up. Very cool idea. Am to old for that. 🙂 I love it.
