Hey hunter thank you for posting this! I designed and built this tiny house and gotta say I do appreciate your honest and passionate opinion. But really tho, the ugliest? 1000 miles? lol, that’s cold. What offends you the most about this building?

At first i thought it looked like a dumpster but i looked closer and i think there is a, well not so subtle beauty to it, i quickly noticed the exterior walls remind me of veins of leaves and the detail around the wheel wells is beautiful. I would buy this shell amd have the interior finished and furnished to to my liking if i had a place to put it but i work in san antonio and its hard to find reasonably priced land to place a thow around here.

Here in New Zealand we have a word for this… MEGAFUGLY!

I’d take it… if they gave me $1,000. Make good firewood.

    Totally agree with hunter…

Alex… could you please fix the reply details boxes to work first time? Or… even better, go back to the old one. Never. Ever. Had a problem with the old one at all. tks.

Nice lines, love the exterior. Could do something amazing with the interior!

Sadly, it is unattractive. All that hard work. And what was their thinking with the diagonal ends?

It’s a architectural detail that helps maximize space… Normally, a loft bump out is limited to 2 feet cantilever but this shape allows it to extend to 4 feet and they did it in both directions. So, while the trailer is 24′, the structure is actually 32′ wide.

This gives more space for the loft, which the listing indicates is 15 feet in length, and the angled walls from the interior help make the space feel even bigger…Along with also providing additional overhang over the ends that provides a little better weather protection for at least those two ends, and provides the trailer tongue some protection it normally never gets…

James thank you! Spot on with your explanation. Another reason we designed the house with angled walls was to maximize roof surface area because we designed it to incorporate a rain catchment system that would pump up to a tank in the loft for a gravity-fed plumbing system. We also built angled walls over the tongue of the trailer to protect propane tanks and/or a mini-split system, while adding balance to the house when hitched for towing and to provide an opportunity for a guest loft inside.

It does look sort of dumpster-ish, but it could be fixed. They’ve done a lot of work–great opportunity for someone to fit it out to their own specs. I understand the principle of the shou-sugi-ban siding, but I don’t care for the dark look. My main concern: how heavy is it? All that siding looks heavy.

There are options for the appearance, look up shou-sugi-ban color staining…

I live in a park model in an RV Resort. We have 3 THOWS on site. One has the door on the wrong side like this one. The other two are built to RSVP code.

Interesting, what do you mean the door is on the “wrong side”?

      • James D.
        August 17, 2019, 4:46 pm

Referencing the RV standard for having the main side door on the passenger side of the trailer. So when parked near each other the steps don’t run into each other and each occupant doesn’t have to run into each other all the time.

Not a issue when off-grid or otherwise have lots of space to itself but in a RV park with lots right next to each other it can be an issue.

Though, lots that can be accessed from either direction can compensate by just reversing the direction orientation it’s parked so the doors then face the same direction…

Nice design! Love the exterior siding. Great potential for the interior.

Chi is bad with all these steep pointing angles – the energy in and around this house will not be good. Black does not help the situation. Sorry.

Chi/Qi in Feng Shui is quite a bit more complex and nuanced than that… besides it doesn’t hurt to accept a little Wabi-sabi in your life…

Most people generally have trouble with new concepts. When faced with them, their minds will start searching for comparisons, to help them relate…..here, dumpsters. Help them along w/ a bit…..86 the black color. Go light and add an outside awning to soften the look.
