Meet April & Jason and their twin girls, Adalyn & Brooklyn, who live in California with their dog Jackson in an absolutely stunning renovated 5th wheel RV!

The couple DIY-ed the entire renovation and took the camper from drab and dreary to light and airy, resulting in a place anyone would like to call home. We interviewed April (@twinning_in_our_5thwheel on Instagram) about their tiny life, so after scrolling through all the pictures be sure to read the Q&A about life in an RV with kiddos!

Couple With Twin Girls Living In Renovated Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer

The RV bump-out allows for so much extra space in this tiny home.

Here are the adorable twins hanging out on the couch (in day-bed mode).

April said she needed a mudroom, and this one is adorable. Behind the door is the master bedroom.

And the dinette/kitchen table for dinner time and homeschooling.

Here’s a picture of what it USED to look like! Yikes.

They have a stove and convection oven, perfect for family meals.

Another “before” photo. What an amazing improvement!

For a tiny house, this is quite a spacious kitchen area.

Those curtain rods are just painted dowels! How cute.

The girls love their tiny life!

Man this place was so dark before!

April & Jason sleep on the pull-out and girls have the master. That way the girls can go to bed at night and their parents can stay up in the rest of the house.

The decor in this home is absolutely stunning.

Here it is all decorated for Fall. Can you believe Summer is coming?

April also did a lovely job making the best use of their outdoor space. It really doubles their living area!

Almost forgot to show you the bathroom. Luxurious!

Yikes again. This is the old bathroom!

They made this place such a beautiful home.

Here’s the girl’s room. They added an extra twin mattress on top of the king to let the girls each have their own bed.

Here’s what it used to look like!

As you can tell, they seem to like their bedroom!

Making forts during quarantine. Such cuties.

April reading to the girls at night. Super sweet.

What do you think of this amazing RV renovation?

What are your name(s)? Jason, April, Adalyn, Brooklyn and Jackson our dog

How many people (and animals) will are living in your tiny house (5th wheel)? 4 people 1 dog

Where do you live? Sacramento

Why did you decide to go tiny? What are you hoping to get out of living tiny?
We wanted to save money to invest in properties and eventually buy our forever home. We never imagined we would fall in love with it as much as we have and are considering doing it longer than the original plan.

How did you first learn about tiny living? I learned about it first through Eamon and Bec on YouTube they converted their van and I was hooked. Then I found Trina (from @rvfixerupper – who is now a dear friend of mine – and I was determined to do it myself)

How long did it take to finish your renovations? We are still working on them, I always have projects I think that’s another reason I love it because I can continue to personalize it for us as a family, but the bulk of our renovation (demo, flooring, and paint took about 2 months)

How did you build your 5th wheel? Did you have any help? Did you do it yourselves? We did it all by ourselves (just Jason and I). He is very handy and I’m all for the DIY.

How did you find a place to park and live in your 5th wheel? I Googled “rv parks near me,” called all of them and asked if they offered extended stay or month to month tenancy. The ones that did I compared what was included, cost, and location. Once I did that I was able to drive and see them in person and decide which location was for us.

Before going tiny, what was life like? Life was similar to the way it is now before we went tiny except we owned way more crap that we didn’t need and honestly crowded our daily lives and added stress.

What benefits are you experiencing after going tiny?
I love the simplicity of it, it’s brought our family closer which is something I will be forever grateful for.

How have your kids adjusted to tiny life?
They don’t really know any different at this point and they love it

What about some challenges? Specifically challenges related to kids in a tiny space?
They have a lot of moving parts constantly and make a mess in 20 seconds, I just have to remind myself how quickly it can all be cleaned up and this is the season of life we are in and I just embrace it. So, some people can’t stand the mess but as long as it gets cleaned up daily I’m okay with it 😁

What makes your tiny house special?
It’s custom to fit our needs, it has a unique open concept layout which makes it feel so much bigger and we have an amazing fenced in yard that doubles as more outdoor living space.

What is your favorite part of your home? What is your kids’ favorite?
My favorite part is my kitchen, I have SO MUCH counter space and can really explore cooking new recipes I throw together on the regular.

My girls favorite part is their make shift bunk beds we made. We gave them the master so we added a twin RV mattress on top of the queen mattress so one side is elevated. It really defines their space and they love that.

What helpful advice would you give to others interested in going tiny?
Downsize and then downsize some more. Roll with the problems that come up because they will. Learn to fix things yourself, and see the bigger picture of it all.

That is the prettiest renovation of an RV I’ve seen anywhere! Incredibly tasteful and crreative use of space. Warm and inviting throughout. Comfortable. Very well done!

A pleasure to see! I would live in your RV — happily!

Completely agree. I usually don’t love “bright & white” everywhere, but she made it cozy instead of sterile.

    Love the simplicity.
My questions are, when changing the sheets on the bed, the bottom is king size, do you remove the king size sheet or do you tuck a twin flat sheet under the upper bed and on the side?
Where do you store all the family’s clothes and do you have enough room for pots, pans, dishes, cups, bakeware and food?
Where are the kid’s toys kept?
    Thank you.
