This is to announce a new TV series on Canadians living in tiny homes and other alternative houses too called HomeMade: Dwelling Differently. It’s a new four-part series premiering online and on TELUS Optik TV. It already started so you can already start catching up on episodes if you’d like.
The four-part series features Canadians doing home differently in BC and Alberta; individuals and families who have spent a great deal of time and energy to reimagine what it means to build a home within their environment and society.

From raising a family off the grid, to living in a converted school bus, this series follows four people who are reimagining what “home” means within their environment, family and society.
Episodes: Growing Off the Grid – Prince George, BC Prioritizing time spent together helped the Burkinshaws find their balance. Long commutes may be a thing of the past, but so are the conveniences of city life. Living off-grid in Northern British Columbia, this family of seven has gone back to the land in a uniquely modern way. Through their YouTube Channel, parents Jeff and Rose share their unique approach to introducing their five daughters to lives of learning and adventure.
School’s Out – Kelowna, BC With no formal construction experience, Brittany Gustafson is challenging herself to reframe the traditional understanding of what a home can be. Working on a farm outside Kelowna, BC, Brittany enlists a little help from her friends as she converts a 32-foot school bus into a travelling home – creating a life free from debt and routine.
The Art of Home – Fort McMurray, AB Renee Manners’ housing situation growing up gave her the drive to create a loving, stable home for her son Mason. A working artist, Renee finds solace in channeling her art onto the walls of their house. The connection between art and therapy is alive in this Fort McMurray, AB household.
Modern Homesteading – Grand Prairie, AB The quest for food sovereignty is a driving force in the lives of Kristeva and Eric. Nestled within a grove of poplar trees outside Grand Prairie, AB, the couple’s ranch embodies their desire for independence and self-sufficiency. Since turning to wild harvesting to supplement their garden, Kristeva and Eric have enriched their lives with a deeper connection to the land, and their community.

I think it looks so Homey, is that a real word? You know what I mean! I Love it. Comfortable and warm looking!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the dad teaching his girls to be self sufficient, love the artistic home, beautiful colors and love love love her rainbow in her bedroom. cattail pollen pancakes, NEVER heard of that before and I have watched so many homesteading videos. I wonder if you could use it for other things ie coating for frying chicken, fried tomatoes, etc, rather interesting concept. The bus, that young woman should be so incredibly proud of herself!!!!! I bought 5 acres, bought a “shed” and ended up paying people to do the internal work and really would have liked the place more I think if I would have done more of the hands on work instead of working longer hours to make the extra money to pay someone to do it for me. I have absolutely no mechanical aptitude unfortunately and was afraid to mess it up. These people just jumped in and did it, so impressed.
This is a wonderful series. I really enjoyed all 4 episodes. Thanks for sharing.
