With a new season of Tiny House Nation (season 2) just out I wanted to share these top 5 tiny houses that you might live in thanks to the FYI Network. Tiny House Nation helps families downsize their lives while they help design and build a new home for them of 500 sq. ft. or less. The show also explores various inspiring tiny homes from around the nation.

In addition, there’s a whole new TV show on the FYI Network called Tiny House Hunting. In this series realtors pair up with tiny house hunters from around the country to find the perfect tiny homes of 300 sq. ft. or less for their family. Very exciting times for the tiny house movement. Now that the nation is opening up to the idea of small spaces, maybe we’ll all see even more opportunities to live small and affordably.

For now, enjoy these top five tiny houses that maybe you might live in that were recently featured on Tiny House Nation and Tiny House Hunting on the FYI Network. Please enjoy, watch the official TV show trailers, and help us spread the word below.

I’m sorry that Tiny Nation appears on Vimeo. They are charging $199.00, a year for a subscription. Needless to say, I won’t be able to watch. I hope from time to time, vid-clips are embedded in the Newsletter for us to see. I only have just so much money coming in and it’s going to have to go on credit cards and saving for my tiny house. It’s just the way it is.

Maybe they took the shows off the site. Now all they have are just the same thing you can get off of YouTube. Very sad, I really like to see more of 2 and 5

#3 Is currently for sale and it looks… well… lived in… and for 60K and tad pricey considering the avg person would have to undo the kids mini lofts, and repaint the area too.

#1 Would be ideal for me. I would add some decking, and small removable overhang above the door. French doors that open out would have been awesome.

#2 Looks like a loft I used to live in… not portable but that looks awesome!

$4 Looks nice wish there were more pics… #5 seems super cool but not of the portable type again.

I’m not surprised #3 is for sale.
In the follow-up the show does after the family has been in residence for a while gave me the impression that living tiny wasn’t going to work out for this family.

As to #2. Did you see the program? The pics here don’t do it justice. It is, in two words, AWE SOME! And the back story was moving. The couple lost virtually everything they owned to a wild fire and decided to drastically downsize. This is the result. Beautiful.

Hey Bruce do you have a link to where #3 is for sale at currently? I think #1 is really cool too. Especially on the inside.

Love the show, new season kick off was awesome with the traveling nurses. What a wonderful opportunity for them! I love the concept of living small, I do lean toward the container type tiny homes. I record the whole series in case I’m not around when it airs.

Of all the shows you did, I think #3 is just not practical. They had no where to sit! Trying to relax in a bed sitting down doesn’t work, you need a couch. They should have a murphy bed in that house. But the rest of the house was great!

I completely agree. That’s why the family didn’t last. There was no sitting /living room area.

I watched the Tinyhouse Nation on Dish Network. And I liked #1and thought it was really sharp. And I believe that the couple had something like $20,000 to work with. Do you have any idea what it might cost to build one like it with a smaller kitchen and minus the the music room into a living room with closet space? I live on an income of $733.00 at this time. Thank you and truly enjoy the Tinyhouse Nation and this website. Daniel from Franklin,Ohio

I am very interested in tiny homes and solar energy and clean burning fuel, cutting my power bills and down sizing. I am in SC I can’t physically build my home, I have a lung problem and need clean well ventilated place with one bed room and one loft big enough to stand up in and one side use as my art studio, the other side for grands visits. I will have aprox 50,000 for home and lot, preferably Easley or Pickens SC. I want to pay cash and not have any loans, I am a visual artists and so ventilation and fresh air is important,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,is there any help.

Is it possible to get floor plans from houses featured on Tiny House Nation? I love the one with two lofts. I think iy was on Season 2? It was for a couple that wanted separate sleeping areas (kinda weird, lol). I want to build and need two lofts. One for me and one for my daughter and I loved that house!

really like this idea and have found a home that I like and can afford. I worry about buying one and not being able to keep it outside of a trailer park. I live in Michigan and so many areas have zoning restrictions that make having one outside of a trailer park a violation. I don’t like that because of lot rent $200/mo or more, on really small lots. Might as well rent an apartment which in my case includes utilities and maintenance services.

Intrigued by the tiny house movement. This could be a major answer for seniors on limited incomes as well. As others stated, would need one floor living with bathroom. Developers need to perk their ears up and design communities with maybe 700 sq ft avg homes with running water, sewers etc. gas heat. Community gardens, activities and affordable housing could be done. I’m full of ideas.

I just saw the episode with the Stiernac Family (I hope I type the name correctly). Great inspiration. Wondering, if a follow up is planned to see what, if any, tiny house they have settled on as a family. Also, if their three children helped with the architectural and creative vision of their new home.

I love the smaller living ideal but I think a lot of these tiny houses are way to high!! It’s as if sixty or seventy thousand isn’t considered high. Really
I hate that “Convenience” has such a cost now!

I know it’s frustrating how expensive even new tiny houses are sometimes. There are a few builders out there that do build at lower price points, but even then, it’s usually around $30k. The cheapest house you can get is the one you and your friends/family build yourselves. But even building a tiny house is a huge project for someone who has never done it before.

I just watched the 600 sq ft Tiny Victorian episode, and loved it. Is it possible to obtain floor plans for this house?
