These show exactly why 8′ wide is marginal, inflexible and wasteful of space.
And a container if you add the insulation needed, is barely 7′ wide. In such you need built in furniture, etc like a boat, RV has.
Since you end up building a wall inside or outside of the container walls anyway or bad heating, cooling problems no one bothers to mention, just what is the point?
If one does, open up 1 side so it can be made wider.
A good idea for any TH is design for a Florida Room as we called them, added to trailers once they came here and how many lived here in the 40s to 70s for more room using the trailer for bath, sleeping, kitchen and the Florida room to live in the day mostly.
I live just SE of Tampa and the few remaining are being torn down that are not in mobile home parks.
These properties that generally need to be torn down as 40-80 yr old trailers just rot, are prefect to replace them with new THs as already zoned.
And one can ‘repair’ them in many cases without permits, etc. Just ‘repair half, the repair the other half. ;^)
It’s what I did on an old mobile home frame, built my TH on it. In both these cases a broken down trailer lowers the price making it another plus for your own TH land. Check your local codes but most in Florida this works.
One of these added to the container TH would make them more viable.
Being able to use the roof as a deck up in the breeze and away from bugs is a plus.

Yes, housing options don’t have to be static and inflexible.

Adding additions like day rooms, sun rooms, patios, decks, conservatories, bump outs, garages, etc. used to be common practices.

So no reason why people can’t do the same with other housing options like Tiny Houses if they have the room to do so and don’t need it to be moved all the time…

Here’s an example of what that can look like…

The best ones utilize side by side designs (2 containers). 7′ is just not enough for long term living when you get into issues of storage.
